Any advice for PCOS and Insulin Resistance??
Can anyone give me more real world information on this? My doctor sounds so hopeful. Can I really get preg or am I fooling myself?

Re: Any advice for PCOS and Insulin Resistance??
You PROBABLY can get PG. It's not just the PCOS and Insulin Resistance. Your age and weight are big factors also. Obviously, it's harder to get PG as you get older...especially over 40. The upside is, many, many, many people have no problem getting PG once they are put on meds for the PCOS. Your doctor may prescribe Metformin,if you have high insulin resistance, or maybe just Clomid if you aren't ovulating. Don't feel as though you are wasting your time. You are just getting started and there are a ton of options. Talk to your Dr. or RE and find out what the long term plan of action is. Good luck to you and lot's and lot's of Baby Dust!

Re: Any advice for PCOS and Insulin Resistance??
I'll let you know. I have PCOS and we are just starting to TTC. My doctor is giving me 3 months to try on our own and if we are not pg by March, than we are going to have to try something else.

Re: Any advice for PCOS and Insulin Resistance??
Ive been diagnosed borderline PCOS hence why I haven't ovulated since giving birth in 2004. Ive been given Metformin and recommended that I start working out/dieting. I am not extremely overweight. I put on (or should I say kept on) 30 lbs after having my 1st child. My RE said I am an "easy" patient and should get pregnant relatively easy with a little help or lots of exercise/dieting.

Re: Any advice for PCOS and Insulin Resistance??
This was a concern of mine I am both IR and I have PCOS. I was taken off the pill in Sept to try to see what my cycles are like and they are not good. I am working on the weight but again not doing well. I am on Met and no longer get low blood sugar daily so that is good.
My ob/gyn referred me to an RE (at NSUH Manhasset) who will meet with people who are preparing to TTC soon - let me know if you want her info she specialized in PCOS.
