Those are the worst! I find that putting my foot flat on the floor helps relieve them.

Re: Charlie horse.
I just read in yesterday's Newsday, haven't tried this yet, that if you pinch the area right below your nose - your little dimple there - for about a minute....this will alleviate the Charlie horse.

Re: Charlie horse.
OMG! I was going to post today that last night I had the mother of all Charlie horses! DH thought I was in labor the way I was writhing in pain! He massaged it out for me, but I'll try one of the things you guys suggested if it happens again...let's hope it doesn't.

I read this too and hope it helps. Ive been getting them alot in the night too. You have to force yourself to drink more water during the day and try having a banana a day too. They can be a sign of dehydration and/or potassium deficiency. I had the same thing the other night and I couldnt even get my foot to flex, my toes kept pushing themselves down, it was horrible.

Re: Charlie horse.
I used to get them once in a while as a kid and my mom (who got them a lot) would always make me try to point my toes upwards towards my heart. That's how she described it. I think that standing probably has the same effect but when she was pregnant it wasn't too easy to jump out of bed to do it. Hope that helps.
