Post pics of backyard landscaping!
I am trying to decide what to plant in our backyard! Right now, we have no garden or garden areas set up. I usually see gardens set up around the perimeter in front of the fence... not sure if I want to do the whole perimeter. Any pics or ideas would be great. My backyard is a blank canvas!

These pictures aren't very close up, but we have flower beds surrounding our entire perimeter. The women who lived here before us loved to garden. We also have a large garden in the corner near the house. Image Attachment(s):

Re: Post pics of backyard landscaping!
This isn't the best picture because its from a few years ago before digital cams and its just a scanned photo but this is my parents back yard. My dad, brother, and friends of the family installed the pool and my dad did all the yard work himself. It's not really landscaped -- just things done by my dad. Image Attachment(s):

We have a deck that is attached to our garage (which is detached from the house) so that kind of breaks up the yard into "sections". Pics courtesy of MrsJ

Re: Post pics of backyard landscaping!
I'm sorry, I had to!
That actually IS our garden, but it's so totally hideous!!!! We just moved in in January and that's what's there, we're in the process of clearing it all out.
Inspiring, isnt' it?
It's like Miami circa 1978!

OMG! Where in England do you live - Brighton? I don't think I have ever seen so many palm trees.
When my DH first came to Ireland with me he couldn't believe we grew palm trees! I guess we always had one in our garden, so I didn't think it was strange. But, looking at your pics, and then realizing it's the UK, it does seem bizzare

Re: Post pics of backyard landscaping!
O'Donnell - we're in South London if you can believe it! I have no idea how they managed to grow them - but they were thriving!!! Until we ceremoniously chopped them down thsi past weekend Actually we have a friend who's a bit of a garden buff and he said that the "monster" on the right is probably worth about £700!! It's just not our thing and I would've loved to have even given it away to someone who might appreciate it more than us...but we live in a terraced house with no side access and it wouldn't fit through our house. So I hacked it to pieces instead Boy did it feel good!
The walls are actually stucco/rendering over brick and it used to be painted royal blue!!! the last owner painted them pink in an attempt to go for a "Mediterranean feel" We're going to take out the smaller parts, but again have the issue of having to drag all of the concrete and earth through the house, so some of it will be "transformed" into seating and all of the concrete will be decked over.
Sorry to hijack, Julz...but just think of it as a crash course in what NOT to do!
