teething question...

How old were your babies when they cut thier first tooth? How long did you notice thier teething signs before they cut it?

Re: teething question...

Luke cut his first tooth at about 4.5 months... As for teething signs (drooling everywhere, putting everything into his mouth) about a month before.

Re: teething question...

Well, he's going to be 8 months and no sign of a tooth yet! Chat Icon But he's been drooling and munching on his hands since about 2 - 3 months. His gums never seem to really bother him that much though and the signs of crabbiness from teething only happen occasionally and minimally. I've noticed the drool is increasing so maybe a tooth is on it's way.

I've read that when they actually cut their first tooth is hereditary so if you or your DH didn't get teeth until later on, the baby probably won't either. If you got them early on, the baby might also. I know that cutting teeth late runs in DH's family so I'm not expecting Jake to cut any teeth for awhile. His niece didn't cut her first tooth until she was one month shy of her 2nd birthday! By that point, she was able to ASK for a cold washcloth to chew on.

Re: teething question...

Emily has been eating her hands constantly since about christmas time at LEAST and her drool is increasing. Everything goes in her mouth -- it is just how things are now. She's my little drool monster! She's 5 months old tomorrow so I know it could be soon.

I think I was a late teether, I have to check with my mom. My husband has no idea because his mom passed away and his dad doesn't remember.

My daughter got her first tooth at 9 months, but had lots of drool and everything went into her mouth for months prior. I've found that I have no idea they are coming until I see it under her gum.

Re: teething question...

Christopher was drooling and munching on his fists at 3 months old, so I thought for certain he'd cut teeth early. Nope, he didn't cut any until 6 months old. He got his two bottom teeth only a couple of days apart.

Nate was drooling big time around 3 months. He cut his first tooth at 4.5 months and had 8 teeth by 7.5 months.
