Angelcare Monitor-worrywart moms

I am STILL debating taking this back...

Im so afraid it will cause me mentally more harm then good

Im so afraid of it going off falsly...and not to mention I might stay up all night listening to it tic to make sure DS is breathing.


Anyone feel its REALLY worth it?

Or if Im this much of a worrywart, would I be better off not having it make me more nuts? ( We have a video monitor as well) and DS doesnt even sleep in his nursery yet, nor do I see it happening anytime soon.

We never used one for the same reason. I knew I'd be a paranoid wreck. My cousin used one with her first, and she said once the baby started to move at night they got a lot of false alarms so she had to stop using it b/c she was being woken up and racing in there several times a night.

I def think it was VERY worth it. I actually got better sleep after we hooked it up. It was worth the false alarms (even though every time I did have a slight heart attack). Once we got the sensitivity down it was fine.

I combined it with the video monitor.

We thought it was worth it, too. There were some false alarms with DS, but DD didn't move too much, so she had maybe 1 false alarm. We slept much better knowing that it worked, and would let us know if anything happened. The occasional false alarms were worth the sense of security for us.

I am a worry wart too. I do not use it with the co-sleeper b/c I could never get the sensitivity just right to work properly. I do intend to use it when he goes to the crib. Also it has a regular sound monitor so I figure I could always use it just for that if it drives me insane.

To me it is SOOOO worth it. I actually just bought one yesterday for the babysitter! Call me crazy, but I dont care

I LOVE it. I don't have the tick turned on, because it was making me a little crazy (as if i needed any help )
A tiny light flashes in his room when it detects him. I started using it in the bassinet and now in his crib. I had 1 false alarm when my DS wiggled his way up to the corner. We have been using it since about 6 weeks I think and DS is 4 1/2 months and just that one false alarm. I sleep better knowing it is on....we use it with a video monitor.

DD is moving all over the place @ 9 months and we RARELY get false alarms- I think once they start moving around you need to up the sensitivity....
but I love the angelcare and still use it nightly!

I felt the same way at first but SIDS has def increased since then so that is why I chose to get it. And if they did have it back then I am positive my Mom would have bought it. Plus I couldn't sleep through the night because I was soo worried about him so for the little money it costs I think it is worth it

It's the only monitor we use (we have a ranch so we can hear her anywhere from pretty much anywhere in the house). I'll tell you, I didn't think I'd sleep at all the first night home from the hospital, and this monitor is the only reason I did. But, that being said, I do like the SIDS monitoring aspect, but I really use it for the regular monitor mostly, then with the SIDS monitoring as a secondary at this point. But I'm glad I have it.

You've been good without it so far, so I'd just go with your gut feelings. If you return it and change your mind, you can always buy it again!

Everyone is different, I for one never really worry about that, as long as I can hear her if she cries, I am happy (I do check on her a few times after I put her down before I go to sleep for some reassurance

Like I said, we all have different worries, concerns

I have it - and use it every night. It gives me peace of mind when I go to sleep. BUT, even when Jack sleeps for a few hours at a time I will still ask DH to check and make sure that he is still breathing.

I think I am really going to love having it once he goes into his own room.

ETA: I haven't had a false alarm yet.

I havent had a false alarm yet and dd is almost 4 mths..but i will say the monitor has made me sleep easier at night esp once she started to roll over and sleep on her belly..hth

This is the product that allowed me to actually sleep. I called my ped after my first false alarm. He told me not to worry, as long as the baby wasn't blue it was only a false alarm and I had nothing to worry about. Honestly, for me I would rather have a false alarm than no alarm, as grim as that sounds.
