Bad weather and vacations

I was just talk with a friend and she wanted to know if we canceled our trip to a.c. i told her we couldn't get the car out but we're leaving tomorrow. she wanted to kno if we were charged. we said know. the hotel knew people from nyc couldnt make it. she said we're lucky. some places would charge. i said how can they charge....we have no control of the weather.

do u think hotels would charge even if u cancel because of bad weather

It depends... Some will give you a credit for the days you missed, some won't.

I purchased travel insurance for my vaca just for this reason.

I have been on both sides where I was charged for a hotel room I couldn't get to and given a great deal at a hotel because I was snowed in.

You have to cancel a reservation within the stated cancellation policy or else you can be charged for the room. Some places may allow refunds or cancellations but it would be at their discretion.

Most have a 24 hour cancellation policy. I can understand that--the weather isn't your fault, but if everyone cancelled at the last minute, they would be out thousands and thousands of dollars.

Unless you cancel within their cancellation period you usually get charged

I cancelled a room this weekend in CT.
My brother had 6 rooms on his card. He said he doesnt think he was charged for the 3 rooms that the people backed out.
He explained the "weather' situation and he thinks we should be ok.
I was willing to pay him back anyway, but if we weren't charged that's better. More $$ for us our next trip.Chat Icon
