Re: Kerry - what about West Islip?
it won't allow me to map it, so not sure if its very north West Islip. West Islip is great, but still we want something closer in. Also, those taxes are steep, but it is in move in condition, big plus.
YOU girlS ROCK!!

Re: Kerry - what about West Islip?
don't know why it's still showing up in MLS, but that house is currently Under Contract... and btw, it was listed in April, but was withdrawn and released within a month (for whatever reason??) recently went back on the market on 8/14/06 - with a price reduction, which would explain why it went into contract so quickly. cute house.

Certain parts of WI are right near Babylon, which is a main line LIRR - express train to Penn is about 45 min. It's really not far out at all.

I'm sorry, but if you think $6,500 is steep for taxes, you might have an issue finding a house that meets your requirement of being close enough to the city. Would you be into a condo or something?

Usually higher taxes=better school districts.
West Islip is a good school district, thus the $6500 taxes. However, that's not really high for Long Island. And taxes are one thing that aren't going to go down (even if house prices go down).

totally agree with you, but the OP referred to the $6,500 as "steep".
I'm just worried if they feel the commute from Babylon is too long, your only choice is Nassau, and taxes are going to be more than $6,500 for a good school district.

actually I've found several with taxes below 5K. Yes, they may not be in a section as nice as WI, but they aren't in a ghetto. Plus, they were all in Nassau are Western Suffolk. We want to cut our commute down.
Condos with Maintance can sometimes work out as more per month.
