TTC thoughts and preparations for the future...
So yesterday DH and I financed a car and the first thing I did was look for child safety features and the hooks in the back seat to attach car seats to since I will more than likely be driving this car a very long time. I was actually impressed to see that DH was also checking out the same types of features. It is another step closer for us to being responsible parents.
Does anyone else think in advance about the way things need to be BEFORE they get pregnant? I am not talking about buying homes or having a nest egg/enough money/or getting healthy - just preparing stuff in general.

Re: TTC thoughts and preparations for the future...
definitely!
I've been saying for several months that my next car has to be very safe, reliable and have 4 doors (I have 2 now).
DH is trying to convince me to get a Subaru. he says they rank very high on the safety list and they all have all-wheel drive.
we currently live in an apt with a long flight of stairs. he always says how dangerous it would be if we had a baby in this place. my DH is Mr. Safety

that's great!! I wish I/We were so prepared. We just got a new vehicle and I didn't even think to check for that. Our sales person pointed it out instead and we both we "ohhhh good idea" LOL I guess we need to train ourselves to start thinking "baby-wise"

I definately do. That was a big thing when we were house hunting. We knew going in that the house we bought would be the house we are going to raise our family in, so there were definate things I was looking for. We'll probably be buying a new car for me next summer and I'm already doing research on what would be best safety wise for us and a child/ren

Yes! DH and I can not buy a house just yet but we found a great apartment with 2 BR's and plenty of space. We also made sure it was close to our families (we will need their help!) We put money aside too for baby furniture. And we are budgeting our money more.

Absolutely. When we bought my car 2 years ago, we were looking at the child safety features. Now whenever we're shoping for things for the house, DH will comment about how safe/unsafe it is for our children. DH is actually really excited to have children and I think that his desire to have them grows stronger every day.

Re: TTC thoughts and preparations for the future...
Again I have to add that I am preparing myself by making sure there are no baby blue sailor suits (if we have a son) or overalls for my kids. I HATE HATE HATE baby blue for boys. I hate sailor suits even more and DH has this tendency to swing his friends children by the backs of their overalls. They are waiting for us to have kids for pay back!
