Homemakers-is your name on the mortgage?
It was automatically assumed yesterday that I not be on the mortgage, just the title of the home. the broker told me NC is a spousal state, so I am getting a great deal. no responsiblity, but if something happens, then half is mine.
Today I had them redo everything and add me onto the loan. My credit is over 740, so I would not be a risk. I just feel like with my new homemaker status, that I should get credit for paying on a home...if i am ever on my own on day, I would want my credit to show that i paid on a house..
was I silly to be added on? or am I making sense?

you are 100% absolutely right about getting on that mortgage!
unless you would have hindered the approval or were trying for a program, etc., there is no reason for you not to be on the mortgage!
you go girl!

There's no way I would ever agree to not have my name on the loan and title.
You did the right thing.

You rock!
I'm on the mortgage (and so is DH) and even if I was a SAHM I would be on the mortgage as well.
You just never know!

I agree, there is no reason for you not to be on the mortgage. It's your house too!

Re: Homemakers-is your name on the mortgage?
aboslutely not being silly. With this current house I was not around to get my house on anything due to a death in the family, getting married and rushing off (blah, blah, blah). Our lawyer said not to worry according to the GA law, everything goes to me regardless. that I didn't care about, but later found out by my lawyer friend that it's not true. If we have a child, which we do than everything goes to her if my nameis not on the deed, mortage, whatever and I have to pay her childsupport for ME to live in the house with my 2 year old Whatever, GA laws stink.
With our new house EVERYTHING will have my name on it. Always get your name on everything, good thinking.

Even with your state laws, you defiantely want your name on it. Great for your credit(even though its already a great score).

Re: Homemakers-is your name on the mortgage?
I am on the deed to the house but not on the mortgage I have NO credit so it made no sense for me to be on the mortgage
but if anything happens I am still on the deed so the house is half mine
