Prayers...and some advice please...(long)
I don't think I've mentioned it on the boards before, but my father is a cancer survivor. He had stage 4 throat cancer and went through extensive radiation treatment. 3 years later, today, he is cancer free. Now, he is developing a condition where he is swelling up at least 2-3 times a week. He doesn't know if it's an allergic reaction to food, stress or the change in weather. The doctors say that it's some sort of Edema and they give him pills that have a steroid in them to reduce the swelling.
I've seen his legs, feet, lip and arms swell up so big. If you feel his skin, it's very warm. Well yesterday he came home from work and his right half of his forehead and eye was swollen, like someone punched him in the eye. As the night went on, his eye got more and more swollen that he couldn't see at all.
I just wanted to know if anyone knows someone who has had a condition like this. Also, if they went to a doctor and they had some different treatment.
I'm also asking for prayers for him as well. I feel bad that he has to live his life like this and not know what's going to happen from day to day...it's not a way to live....

Could it be gout? I know my dad gets major swelling in the legs and feet and it is in relation to his diet. When he has more red meat, butter, fats it gets worse.
Hope you find an answer

Well it took a few days for the swelling to go down. He has to go see an alergist now. Does anyone know or can recommend a good alergist? TIA...
