Flat head on one side?
My sons both favor one side and their head is a bit flatter on one side, is there any way to fix this? They both sleep facing into the room, so we switched cribs last night figuring they would still sleep with their heads facing in, but this didn't work, they both slept facing the walls on the same flat side of thier head.
Anyone experience this? TIA

Re: Flat head on one side?
Jared's head on the back was flat because of the way he slept at night. I kept rotating him at night and eventually it got better. Now he has a nice round head!

Re: Flat head on one side?
JUst stick with it. My doctor said to alternate the way they face in their crib each night. Also when you chnage them put them on the changing table with the side they favor towards the wall. They will have to turn to look at you. You can also try propping up their heads with rolled up receiving blankets when they are in their bouncy, swing, etc. Your babies are so cute! Once they start rolling and lifting their heads it will probably correct itself. My daughters head rounded out really quickly when she bacame more active.

No matter how we move them, or put them to bed, they always go to their favorite side.

Re: Flat head on one side?
My son's head was also flat in the back. The doctor told me it was because he was always laying on his back and that I should do more "tummy time" with him and also once he was able to hold his head up by himself, it would round out. He is now 8 months and he is fine, you cannot even tell.

Re: Flat head on one side?
It is not his back of his head but their side of the head, they get tummy time during the day, but when they are sleeping and even during the day, they favor that side, they are alwasy turned to that side, no matter how we hold them or feed them.

Alex had the same problem, I tried everything. I was so worried he was going to have to wear a helmet. Once he started rolling around and turning in his sleep it corrected itself and his head is fine now.

Re: Flat head on one side?
My sons head is flat on the side too, I can't seem to get him to sleep not resting on it. I've tried recieving blankets propped but they don't really work. I think he was like that in the womb though, his sister squashed him in there! Her head has a flat spot also, but its not as noticeable as his.

Re: Flat head on one side?
Thats why I loved that triangle wedge-y thing..keep rotating. My girlfriend created an extreme problem with her son, he only wanted to sleep on his back. She was always afraid of SIDS so this was the ONLY position she layed him in. Whenever I would sit for him,I tried everything to get him to sleep on his sides- even his tummy, but no luck. Now he's 9 yrs old.. and... sorry to say,the poor little boy looks like a walking lollipop! Not funny! Now she too regrets not rotating him.
