Anyone have a Vacation home?
Danielle and I were just looking on line at vacation homes...and we were wondering what some nice places would be for a vacation home - not to expensive....Could be a condo or a town home too Thanks, Scott

Re: Anyone have a Vacation home?
We have 2 but we don't own them (our parents do). They are family homes though
My parents have one in Maine! We have had it since 1950 when my grandfather built it. It is absolutely gorgeous up there. The house is located right on the lake. It is only a summer bungalow though. We go up there anywhere from April-October. It is more enjoyable in the summer & fall months though when you can truly enjoy boating & anything water related.
My inlaws have a house in the Pocono's in Indian Mountain Lake. It is a year round house & we usually go up there at least once a month. It is close to skiing, shopping & pure relaxation.

Re: Anyone have a Vacation home?
My girlfriend has one in the Western Poconos....town of White Haven. She has had it for about 10 years now. She bought the land from a builder and then picked out a pre-fab house. It sleeps 10. Great house in a community with a pool and about 25 mins from the outlets!

Re: Anyone have a Vacation home?
FH and I would love to get one (we need a home here first though!)
if we did it would be probably in the Poconos or upstate NY. We LOVE to ski, so it would be a ski cottage.

Re: Anyone have a Vacation home?
We have two in my family-one is for sale Its near cobleskill. Don't know why the agent doesn't have more pics online. The view is amazing. Eagle Mountain Road
The other is in Lake Copake, also upstate.
We don't use either because our house is set up like a vacation home on Long Island, no reason to travel.
This is a unique community right near my house in Eastern Suffolk county, you can only use them in the summer. They have a private beach on the Long Island sound. Its five minutes from Tanger, Splish splash, the wineries & right near wildwood state park
summer home
Do you guys like the beach, skiing, shopping?

Re: Anyone have a Vacation home?
I used to have a ski house in southern vermont. it was great but very expensive to maintain. Not to mention when anything went wrong/broke - you were at the mercy of the locals - and they KNOW this.

Re: Anyone have a Vacation home?
We're still tossing around the idea of buying my house upstate. It's perfect now with my Dad there, but I'm worried when he's not. At the same time the home means more to me than anyone could know...so I'm so torn on what to do.

Re: Anyone have a Vacation home?
where is the house upstate? When I was a kid we used to go to all the resorts up there like the Nevele, Kutchers(Closed), The Concord (Closed), the Raleigh(Closed). I loved it up there. I dont know what towns are good, safe towns....Any ideas. Scott

We live in Columbia County. It's full of farms Apple orchards, dairy farms. We're across the river from the Catskills - in between the Catskill Mtns & the Berkshire Mtns.

Re: Anyone have a Vacation home?
I don't have a place in Baiting hollow, I just know of it because its so close to my house. I believe its a land lease, its really cute & rustic & seems like such an afforable way to own a vacation home on Long Island.

This is our "vacation home"! It's actually great because we can go ANYWHERE we want, we even take it to the beach on the weekends out here. And it's HUGE inside. Image Attachment(s):

My in-laws have a place like this out east where they own the house but lease the land and this is our vacation house. We go there all the time!
ETA:This is where we are headed on Sat. morning to stay until the following Sun. We are going on vacation to celebrate our 3rd anniversary!

Re: Anyone have a Vacation home?
Some day we would like to buy a shore house on Long Beach Island (NJ).
For the time being, we stay at my FIL's in the Hamptons.
