OT: How did you know when...
you and DH were ready to have a baby? Being a teacher (an "untenured" teacher), I'm all about planning. If it were up to me alone, I'd be pregnant already (of course I'd plan to have a baby over the summer and continue teaching in the following Sept.). My husband keeps saying he's not ready yet.
Are guys always slower to mature iwhen it comes to starting a family? I feel like he'll never be ready sometimes... I know he'll be a great father - no doubt in my mind about that. When do guys just "click" and become ready? I'll be 30 in December, and I'm getting the itch!!! We'll be married 3 years in Feb...

I don't know, for us, it was like something clicked. Even though we haven't reached all of our "goals" financially etc. we just know the time is right.

Re: OT: How did you know when...
This is tough...for the past year I have gone back and forth on the topic. Now I feel like I am ready to try, but we have a lot going on right now....once we are settled into our new house we will revisit the topic. Dh seems "less ready" than I am. He overplans a lot. So, I guess we will wait until we both feel like the time is right. Hopefully that will happen.
We will both be 30 in February, so I totally get what you are saying. Something about 30 has made my interests peak!

Re: OT: How did you know when...
It was simple for us - my age. I am 36 now and I am not willing to have a child in my 40's. That doesnt mean I am knocking those who do. I have my reasons.

Re: OT: How did you know when...
We have wanted kids since the beginning, but wanted to wait until "the right time". Even though everyone said it's never perfect. THen we were faced with a possible serious illness and all I could think about was that I didn't have kids yet. Nothing else mattered at that point and my one regret up until that point was that, the fact that we didn't have kids (not money, or work or trips...KIDS!) so I decided that it was time to start. And if it was God's will, it would happen. Everything else could wait, but when faced with illness life doesn't wait.
Good luck!
