Questions about maternity clothes ?
Hi ladies, I have 2 questions about maternity clothes.
First, when did you start to need them? I am 11 weeks and fitting fine in my clothes. I am trying to anticipate when I will need some new stuff.
Second, for those of you who have been big and pregnant in the winter- what did you do for a winter coat. I am due in April, so for December - March I will be pretty big. Just wondering if you got a maternity coat, or just a regular coat in a larger size. Thanks!!

Re: Questions about maternity clothes ?
You'll find that you might be quite "hot" in the winter months. I had my first child in February and I wore turtlenecks and sweaters. Since I did not commute into the city, I didn't need a jacket because I was driving to work in the heat....therefore, I just used my regular sized jacket.
To answer your question - I was about 4 months when I went into maternity clothes - both times. The transition is the worst because your regular clothes don't fit and you're not quite ready for maternity. you eventually give in.

Re: Questions about maternity clothes ?
I just hit 4 mos and it's all maternity now because of pants. You will find your pants don't button and then your shirts aren't long enough to cover the preggo panel. They are kinda big on me but I'd rather not look like a stuffed grape leave! I was also told that you get really hot towards the end....maybe a nice pea coat??

Re: Questions about maternity clothes ?
I delivered at the end of February and I got a new winter matenity coat on ebay. It was a Gap coat and it was reasonably priced b/c it was last season's style. I'm so happy I got it. It was really comfy and warm. I wore button down shirts with a cardigan pretty much every day since my office was pretty warm (plus I was hot anyway from being preggo) and the coat was perfect for when I was outside.

Re: Questions about maternity clothes ?
I started wearing Maternity pants between 4-5 months. They were regular pants with an elastic stretch in the back. I still wear regular tops like polos. I had to buy some new pants though because those dont fit anymore and some maternity tops for work. I am 30 weeks.
Everyone is different though, I didn't really get a belly until a few weeks ago.

It's so weird, everyone I know who had morning sickness really bad seemed to have a lot of water retention. I had one friend who for the entire pregnancy could only eat Taco Bell, everything else made her so sick. It's weird how differently pregnancy effects everyone. I hope you feel better soon.

Thank you! Maybe that's what it is (water?) but all I know is my clothes dont fit. I dont have a choice. I'd rather wear maternity early than be squished into regular clothes and be uncomfortable.

Taco bell..yum, sounds like me with french fries. The only food right now that always smells as tastes appealing!
I am right about where Kathy is, and the same thing, I walk around all day with my pants unbuttoned then go home and put on pj's so I dont' have to look at my belly wanting to bust out of my pants. I totally lost my waist, it's gone. I am trying to make it past the 1st trimester without buying larger/maternity pants. I have been asking all my friends if they have pants they don't wear anymore that are bigger than what i wear now.

I only wear low rise. I work out 3-4 times a week- so my butt so far is OK. But my thighs are starting to get bigger.

Re: Questions about maternity clothes ?
I started in maternity bottoms at 10 weeks....I wasn't the skinniest thing to begin with (like my counterpart emc is!).
Maternity tops were maybe 14 weeks...I can stil lwear DH XL tee shirts, but not in public.
BUT at 26 weeks, I'm still in Mediums and wearing Large tops just for comfort
