Woman at the End of Their Pregnancies (Or Ones Who Gave Birth) Question For You?

Can you tell me what type of shoes that you mostly wore at the end of your pregancy. I have mostly medium to high heel shoes for work and don't know if i should run out to get flats or can you walk on medium high heels??? I would think i would have a hard time with my balance since i feel it already happening.

I have casual shoes, but i have no idea what to wear to some weddings I have and work. I don't look good in flats, but if i had to i would wear them.

However, I do see Gwen Stefanie still walking around in high heels in her 8th month...so what did you all do??

Thanks!

I'm at 33 weeks and still wearing normal shoes. I have no problem with balance. Swelling hasn't been a problem for me either, but it's something that you might want to think about. A girl that I work with has such bad swollen feet that there's only 1 pair of shoes that she can wear. Her poor feet look like they belong to the Pillsbury Dough Boy!

Sneakers - ever since I fell around 5 months PG. All I wear are sneakers.

At 36 wks my feet are really swollen so nothing else fits except flip flops!

Last week I just switched to sneakers (I'm 39 weeks). I can still wear regular shoes (not heels), and sometimes I wear shoes with tiny stilletto heels (around 1 inch). But my ankles get so swollen- sneakers are the most comfortable.

I wore high heels in the office and to events or to go out to dinner - - until the day I went into labor. Just towards the end I steered away from those that were slightly thinner heels - it effected my balance. Most of my work heels are 1.5-2in range so they weren't too high anyway.

For commuting, I wore ballerina type flats to run across town in or even sneakers - I didn't care how I looked to commute. But I wear flats normally to commute since I am always running across town (10-15min walk each way) and I can walk faster that way!

Except for the last two weeks of my pregnancy I was in my "regular" shoes. Since it was the summer though, I was primarily wearing dressy sandals and closed-toe sling backs. The last two weeks my feet got a little swollen so I wore what was comfortable, sandals with velcro/adjustable straps, sneakers. Wear what you feel most comfortable in.

Re: Woman at the End of Their Pregnancies (Or Ones Who Gave Birth) Question For You?

I started wearing 1 inch to flats to work at about 20 weeks. I don't really have a desk job though, I am at my desk 50-75% of the day, I do lots of walking so I didn't want to take a chance with heels that I would/could fall or put unnecessary stress on my back.

I think not wearing the heels has helped my feet, legs and back too. Knock on wood at almost 37 weeks my feet have not swelled at all. My hands are another story!

I wore a lot of flip flops and flats, comfortable because my feet were so swollen.

I still wear a lower heel if it's a really special occasion, but for work I wear pant suits so I've been wearing loafers pretty much the whole pregnancy. They're comfy and I figured why make my feet hurt worse if I don't need to.

I have been wearing flats since 16 weeks only because the pants I was wearing didnt seem long enough with heals and it was hard enough to find pants that fit so I wore flats. I wore heals if I had to parties but the last time I wore them was two weeks before christmas and I was about 22 weeks then. My feet would swell up from standing on them or just wearing them for too long. I wish I could wear heels now (i'm 39 weeks) but their is no way. I say what ever you are most comfortable in wear, but if you have a bad back or do alot of standing I dont recommend wearing heels. Your putting alot of added pressure to your joints that you dont need.

Re: Woman at the End of Their Pregnancies (Or Ones Who Gave Birth) Question For You?

I had horrid swelling with my first pregnancy and wore these leather Keds with lycra in the tongue for months (with the laces out) - even flip flops dug into my misshapen feet. Ive been much luckier with my subsequent pregnancies and havent experienced the edema like that but those Keds saved my life, the soles were so worn out by the time I had my son.

Re: Woman at the End of Their Pregnancies (Or Ones Who Gave Birth) Question For You?

I don't have so much of a problem with swelling as I do with my back, so I wear mostly low heels and flats. I am LOVING this weather for my flip flops now! I was wearing my Uggs everyday to work under my dress pants, but they make my feet too hot now. I did have to buy all new shoes, though because the joints in my feet spread, and I went up a whole shoe size!Chat Icon

Re: Woman at the End of Their Pregnancies (Or Ones Who Gave Birth) Question For You?

I wear sneakers or flats most of the time primarly because they are the most comfortable. When I do wear heels, they are not very high, and I try to wear ones with thicker heels so that I have better balance. At 38 weeks, I really haven't had much foot swelling. I don't know if it is because I am wearing comfortable shoes or if it would be worse wearing heels more often, but most of the time, my feet feel pretty good.
