Spinoff to cleaning baby clothes: how long to keep them separate?

I was wondering how long people wash the baby's clothes separately from their own. I have one friend who still washes her 3 year old's clothes separately, and another who never did b/c she thinks it's all a scam by the Dreft people. Chat Icon I guess most people are somewhere in the middle?

Not sure where I stand but, Aidan is 18 months and I still wash his clothes separately and with Dreft.

But its mostly that it just works out because he has his own hamper and when its full its a load. Maybe 1-2x a week. I also like that I am not trying to find itty bitty socks and things in with our huge stuff.. no separating or getting lost.
He has had eczema and skin issues whenever I have tried Baby All or All Free and Clear, so I just stick with the Dreft.

Christopher's still only 5 months, but I intend to keep washing his stuff separate for a long time. It's just a lot easier.

I always do Andrew's wash separately, only because he has his own hamper, and his tiny clothes, and little socks get lost in our wash. But I've never used Dreft, only for the first 3 months. since then, I've used Tide.

My nephew will be 4 and my SIL still washes his stuff with Dreft because whenever she washes it with anything else he breaks out (she has a 20mth old too so Dreft is there anyway)

I keep Jared's clothes separate. They're in his own hamper so it's convenient and I also use Dreft or Baby All.

ryan will be 3 next nonth and we still do his seperately. Partly because he has his own hamper, but mostly because he has eczema. We either use Dreft or ALL Free and Clear.

With my first, I separated her's for about 3 months and used the Dreft since I received it as a gift. Since then, I use plain old Purex and don't separate either kids' clothes. I do so much laundry as it is. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Thanks! I usually do hers as one load since her hamper is equal to that, but I didn't know if I needed to keep buying Baby All. We usually use All Free and Clear, so I'm sure it's not much different than Baby All anyway.

Re: Spinoff to cleaning baby clothes: how long to keep them separate?

I usually do Jenna's seperately with Dreft since she has her own hamper which equals about a load. But if i'mdoing er laundry and I have a couple of shirts that need to be washed i'll throw them in with her clothes.

The only things I wash seperately all the time are my nursing scrubs---yuck, after being around sick patients all night they go into the hot wash with bleach!

Re: Spinoff to cleaning baby clothes: how long to keep them separate?

I still do marissa's clothes separately she is 15 months just like most of the other mom's my reasoning is the same she has her own hamper and its alot easier to sort her clothes from only her clothes then to try to find her little socks in our socks and her shirts and pants from ours so nothing really gets lost but every now and then there is the sock issue where you know you put boht socks in there and you come out with one odd sock where does that sock go???

As far as the detergent goes I use dreft since I got some big jugs and when it was on sale at BJ's I bought a few jugs of it. There have been times where I forgot it at home and I had to use Era or Tide and she was fine with it. So I think when I run outof the Dreft I am going to use my regualr detergent.
