Observation Tomorrow.
My prinicipal told me this afternoon that she is coming to see me 1st period tomorrow. !st period I teach 7th grade ss self-contained. We are at then end of our unit and my original lesson is boring. We are wrapping up the first three articles of the constitution. What do you think of this:
Two groups: Write a wanted ad listing qualifications for either head of the executive, legislative or judicial banch.
TWo groups: Write a letter of interest responding to a help wanted ad discussing why you are qualified for the job.
BTW- there are 9 SE students in the class.

Re: Observation Tomorrow.
I would say the second topic sounds fun. It gives the students a chance to talk about their strengths.

Re: Observation Tomorrow.
Ilike the second one but make sure to split up the SE kids which I am sure you already do.
I wen to Salk and MacArthur amd my father taught at Salk, I still know people that teach there that i went to H.S. with.
Who is the principal now?

Re: Observation Tomorrow.
I don't know what levels your students are at, but our SS teacher just had her SE kids make a triangle type thing. They used red, white and blue construction strips and glued them together to make a triangle (can you picture it? It almost looks like a recycling sign)
On each strip the kids labeled one of the branches and their duties. They drew arrows pointing to the branch they are in charge of "checking".
They looked nice and it was a great review and check for understanding. I don't know if you'd be concerned because there isn't too much writing involved.

Re: Observation Tomorrow.
I have this awesome reader's theater script for the preamble to the constitution. it would probably be too soon for you to do something like that but let me know if you want me to pass it on to you. i got it from a fluency workshop that I went to at columbia university and we performed it in the workshop and it was VERY moving.
