Will you/Do you share your child's "story"
My social worker said that they discourage adoptive parents from sharing their child's "story" with others..they said the story often gets passed to others who embellish it (like playing telephone) and at some point someone could say something in front or to your child about it.
For instance if the child was left at an orphange with a jacket to keep him warm and was feed and healthy the story could turn out to be that the baby was left naked on the side of the road almost dead.
What do you plan to do about this?

My dad's cousin adopted a little girl from Russia. When she was traveling both times she took another cousin with her who videotaped everything. The day she went to pick up her little girl she had every moment videotaped including getting on the plane to come home to America. My dad's cousin is going to have it professionally edited and put on DVD to show her daughter when she is older and to anyone else who is interested in watching her "story"

I think Michele meant something a little different. Above is called by some "Gotcha Day" and I will most likely do the same, video, photograh etc. That I will definately share with family and my daughter over and over. For her story though, as where she was found and her life before my husband and I, I think that i will only share that with my daughter. I believe that is private and if she wants to share when she is old enough then it will be her right to do so. But I'll probably change my mind a thousand times until that day comes!!

I will probably share the story only with my closest friends and relatives.

We believe in guarding the details of Jacks story. Of course we have told people he was adopted and that he was born in Moscow, Russia. We have only shared information beyond that with some immediate family. Our thought is that this is his information and that he has the right (when is older) to choose who he will share it with.
