Re: Anyone ever bought furniture at St Vincent de Paul??
I have a friend who's house burnt down and when it was re-built she bought a lot of furniture from the Salvation Army and the Rent-A-Center place (on 110 I think). I couldn't believe all the great stuff she got for a song.

Where is St. Vincent De Paul?
Jericho Turnpike in Huntington Station/East Northport border... east of many of the car dealerships and west of DSW shoe outlet.
There used to be one on Jericho in Garden City Park but I don't think it's there anymore

Thank you very much, my little brother is getting his first apartment so I will have to tell him about this place.

eh...they have finds there... but not a lot IMO.
What i like is a lot of popular stores (like Bombay which is one of my favs) donates furniture there...
Ihave seen GORGEOUS full length mirrors, dinettes, and stuff that are GREAT FINDS
But they also have a lot of crap as well...
Prices are good. But of course for better stuff you pay more. They do go down in price weekly i think...
I say it is def worth checking out...
If you find two good pieces i think it is worth it

Re: Anyone ever bought furniture at St Vincent de Paul??
I have browsed there, but would not buy b/c the prices were outrageous. Everything there is nice, but they treat everything as an "antique" translation high prices so it's not a thrift store in the normal sense of the word. if you're looking for inexpensive stuff you're better off at the Salvation Army (we've bought several things there) and garage sales. You may to look at St. Vincent de Paul and compare so you'll know what I'm talking about. You may also want to check someplace like Big Lots. You could get a new set and have it be reasonable.

I'm just saying for me to be willing to buy someone else's used furniture it has to be waaaaaaay cheaper than it would be brand new and what we saw there was not. I have purchased upholstered living room club chairs elsewhere that were only $50. That to me is a steal. I guess it all depends on what you're looking for.
