When people cannot seem to watch what they say

Do people think before they speak to those struggling to get PG? Or just because they are PG or have a couple of other kids that makes them experts????

So someone I know said to me:

"You know, you need to not be stressed out, think about it at all and watch what you eat. If your mind and body are healthy it will happen. That's what I did and I got pregnant."


Well HELLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOO! I was on birth control for 4 years, under stress at the beginning of planning my wedding, smoking heavily because of it and eating fast food since we were on the run alot. Well, 2 days off birth control and with every one of these factors in place and I got pregnant while not even trying.

I think I am going to make up tee shirts that say "Guess what - everyone's body is different so until you are an expert on MY BODY, please keep your inconsiderate comments to yourself".
It's the friggin comments like these from people that bother me most about all of this.

The fact that my son died and now we are struggling is what bothers me. How about telling me why it happened so easily while doing everything WRONG and for the past year I've done everything I was supposed to do and NOTHING. Everybody's an expert but yet I still am not PG.

ETA- You can't imagine how many times I've had to scream at people in frustration that I don't have tubes, so relaxing will not work!!!

Pauline- I agree and similiar to what Donna said.

The lifestyle stuff CAN and does help Im sure in certain situations and more so for older women I believe.

BUT...I have been PG twice, both times I drank, I smoked, I ate like crap and it happened on the first and ONLY time.

NOW...like Donna, after a death of a baby and a M/C...NOTHING?

So I quit smoking, I quit fried food, I stopped drinking, I DRINK GRASS SHOTS , etc etc etc and what? Im still not PG and Im freakin MISERABLE!

i'll chime in too

at various staages of her life, boosh has been at different weights from 130, to 250 - she recently took off a bunch of weight and changed her diet and lifestyle

still nothing

everyone is different....for someone to say, or fix this one part of your life and it will all be OK, is silly

OMG...Donna...you know how I'd like to smack those people, right?!?!?!

I do think that these people are not trying to be inconsiderate...they just don't know what to say to us...

Like I say...I just wish for ONE minute someone stepped into my shoes and lived the life I'm living...

Would they STILL give me such useless advice?????????????

I am so with you on this....um OK I will relax but will that GIVE ME BACK MY EGGS????? No.

Although I am doing acupuncture, yoga, chirpractic, guided imagery... some diet changes.....I just want to do what I can to increase my chances. BUt you are right, I got pg without making any adjustments to my lifestyle at all, and now that I am trying to be a good girl - nada!

no, I won't - just makes me think to do this though

Yes, people are insensitive, and for the most part I have to believe its not intentional. I haven't had the pleasure of too many insensitive comments - thanksfully...but then again I've been staying out of the company of whoever I think might chime in with something to pi$$ me off

For all the things I could change in my life to "get pregnant", I tried some of them and still no BFP, so I'm doing what I can

I don't think it's intentional either but everyone needs to realize that what i do with my body is MY BUSINESS. I have gotten the if you relax, just listen to the Dr's. Ummm no that won't work I listened to the Dr's for a year and I am a year further away from having a baby. I am a HUGE believer in doing my own research and people get on me about doing that. WHY do you care??

I am sorry Donna and all of you who are recipents of endless comments, advice and innappropriate "studies" on how to get pregnant. It really is none of their business anyway.

and for all you girls- I say it a lot but you are all my hero's for the strength you show each and every day.

Now you and I have a similiar situation...

So this guy at my job the other day says to me...

"So when are you going to do that baby thing again?"

I was like...uh, first of all, who says I'm not trying. And second of all, why would you say AGAIN?? And 3rd of all, how is this your business? You're my co-worker!

I'm sorry you had to deal with that. I don't understand why people need to comment on our bodies, why people need to touch our bellies when we're pregnant (strangers, I mean) and why people have to ask dumb questions. Just the way it is. Vent whenever you want, babygirl!
