LIPA
I read some previous posts about them but I am looking for opinions before I call tomorrow.
We bought a colonial in Merrick in Sept. We just received a bill for 09/11-10/11 and it is $127.50 now here is the catch...We still don't live there yet. The only things running in the house right now are Dehumidifier, refrigerator, some power tools during the day when my DH and his dad are working and occasionally some lights. Does this bill sound right to you? Not to mention my power supply charges are more then delivery and system charges. I am scared to actually move in and see what the bill will be. Any opinions would be helpful. TIA

Re: LIPA
from what I have heard, a dehumidifier uses up a LOT of electricity.

Re: LIPA
It doesn't sound "outrageous", but is it an estimated or actual bill? Obviously, if they were able to read the meter, then it's accurate.

Re: LIPA
No, it is not outrageous. It just seems like a lot being nobody lives there yet. I think it is estimated. But from previous posts I read on here about Lipa people seemed to pay that or less while actually living in the house.

Yep - a dehumidifier uses the same elevtricty as an air conditioner. That's probably what is doing it to you.

Re: LIPA
The dehumidifier does use a lot of electricity, but if it is an estimated bill they are probably estimating based upon the prior owner's usage. If you are that concerned, call them and ask them to have someone come read the meter.
