Re: Greys' Anatomy - What is a Code Black?
Here are the various spoilers that I found:
Episode 2.16: It's The End of The World (Post-Super Bowl episode) Airdate: February 5, 2006 Episode 2.17: It's The End of The World, Part II Airdate: February 12, 2006
01/25 - During the press-tour session, ABC screened a short clip of the Super installment that showed the interns freaking out after Seattle Grace goes into a "code black" panic. What's a code black, you ask? Per Shonda Rhimes, it's "bad and it's black and it's a code." What's a code black, really? Per my Grey's mole medical encyclopedia, a code black occurs when someone enters a hospital with a bomb strapped to their chest. I hear [Dr. Bailey's] delivery is going to be super-nail-biting. (Hint: I italicized "super" for a reason. Think long and hard about this one, folks.) Source: Ask Ausiello @ TV Guide 01/24 - Television reporters were given a little sneak preview of the post-Super Bowl episode of Grey’s Anatomy. The trailer centered around the doctors calling for a cryptic “code black” situation in the hospital, which apparently means the immediate evacuation of the area (although we weren’t told what “code black” was or why one was called for). While a “code black” scenario would seem to be just another day at the office on E.R., in which a plane smashing into a tank as an asteroid hammered both of them is not that far out of the realm of possibility, it was a little disconcerting to supporters of Grey’s. While producers maintained the episode itself is more true to the relationship-based nature of the show, it would seem that network execs and producers got the message: let E.R. be about crashes and keep Grey’s about crushes. Source: BC Beat 01/24 - Meredith's fears that she is in for a bad day are realized when a medical case arrives at Seattle Grace that threatens the lives of everyone in the O.R. Guest starring Christina Ricci as Hannah and Kyle Chandler as Dylan Young Source: ABC 12/30 - There's some sort of bomb scare at Seattle Grace and in the middle of it all, Dr. Bailey's giving birth (and her husband is stuck somewhere with McDreamy), plus, I also hear we'll seem some fireworks from Izzy and Alex... Source: Kristin on E!Online 12/23 - When a soon-to-be patient building a replica-sized plane decides to stand in front of a propeller to see why it's not working, a paramedic with little experience saves his life by plunging her hand inside his body to plug the bleeding. If she removes her hand too soon, the patient dies. During his x-rays, the interns try to calm her increasing hysteria as reality sets in. Later, the team learns life lessons from a remarkable teen patient. Source: SpoilerFix.com 12/22 - Grey's Anatomy has tapped film vet Christina Ricci to guest-star on the Feb. 5 episode - an all-important one, as it airs immediately after ABC's broadcast of Super Bowl XL. Although the plot is being kept under wraps, the network has revealed that Ricci will visit Seattle Grace Hospital "not as a patient, but in a life-and-death situation." Source: TV Guide Online 12/09 - There are rumblings that a big episode is coming up for [Izzie and Alex] in late January, right around Super Bowl time. Source: Ask Ausiello @ TV Guide 11/18 - An all-business female and an amused male intern oversee Devon, a wisecracking patient who deflects attention from himself and deliberately puts them both at ease with dry puns and a CD to play. Sensing the female intern's discomfort, Devon concentrates mostly on her, asking if she'll shave his head. Grudgingly, she does so. Source: SpoilerFix.com
