Need to get a job... advice desperately needed

So I have a career that I've been in for the past 5+ years but since I relocated I'm having trouble finding a position in that field. I'm kind of going crazy and need to find something - anything at this point. I was thinking about reception/assistant work. I did this for 3+ years while in college full-time. So, my question is: will an office hire me? I guess I feel like anyone who looks at my resume would question why I would be applying to an assistant or receptionist position if for the majority of my employment is in something totally different. Any advice? Experiences? TIAChat Icon

if you are not hard up for benefits, I would start temping. My company hires a lot of our temps after seeing how they perform.

That was the next route I was going to try although I prefer to have something steady. The temp thing would be a good way to work and continue my search.

Find a company you want to work for and apply for reception there. Let them know you love their company and you want to work for them...make no bones that you will do anything just to get your foot in the door. My company has hired a TON of poeple this way.

Yeah! My sister went though a temp agency, but told them that she specifically wnated a long term (or a temp to perm) position... and they hired her FT within the first few weeks.

Some companies want to try out a person first befpre hiring them FT... but a temp agency should have a lot to offer..
