What would you wear to this interview?

It's an assistant director position at a test prep company. The website says they're informal, and that the only dress code is that you wear something on your feet. I was thinking I'd look too stuffy in a suit (these companies tend to have a young vibe),so would slacks and a sweater work?

I would wear something more business casual.. Something professional that you would wear to a client meeting-- but no suit.

Wear a nice pair of pants with a button down. Wear some nice accessories too. They will dress it up.

Good luck!

Maybe a nice pair of dress pants with a button down shirt -- I always think someone looks confident and put together with nice accessories -- like a nice piece of jewlery and good shoes. Does that sound like something you can do? I'm so nervous to accessorize but think it looks so put together when people do it.

lol.. sorry.. Yes, I think what you had planned would work. A sweater set I think is a little more ideal... or a button down.. Really whatever you feel looks the best on you and makes you more confident. Definitely dress pants and nice shoes though!

I agree..... Although the work environment is very casual that's the dress code for people who work there. I don't think you can go wrong in a pantsuit. Better safe than sorry IMO.

Good Luck with the interview!

Re: What would you wear to this interview?

I only own a skirt suit. I understand totally about hw you cna never be too professional on the itnerview so I was initally going to wear the suit, but you also have to show that you can fit in with the corporate culture. Maybe I'll wear pinstripe pants, a button down and a blazer...a happy medium?

Re: What would you wear to this interview?

Just remember, it's better to be overdressed to an interview than underdressed.

I'd wear a pantsuit or something similar.

Good luck on your interview!!!!Chat Icon

Re: What would you wear to this interview?

Go with your skirt suit. You really can't dress for a job you don't have (your not a party of that enviornment yet) - you need to dress for the job you WANT and show them you want it.

Best of luck and fingers & toes are crossed for you! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: What would you wear to this interview?

Thanks everyone. I went with the button down and slacks (no blazer... it's at the cleaners!) At first they told me I'd hear back ina few days and they left me finishing my job application, but then she came back and told me right then and there she wanted me back for a 2nd round interview, and introduced me to the next person I have to interview with..who would be my boss..and we set up my interview for Monday! I'm really excited. it sounds like a great job for me. Thanks for the help! I guess I picked the right outfit. I'm going to keep it on the "business casual" side even for the next itnerview because the first person I interviewed with was wearing jeans, and the person I'm going to interview with on Monday was in a track suit!!

Ok, I'm blabbing, but I'm pretty excited. It seems like a really ideal job for me!

Thanks so much for the advice and good thoughts!

ETA: A job where I can wear jeans on a daily basis is SO ideal!

I KNOW! I can't even begin to describe how ideal that would be. Even if I had a job where I had to dress business casual every day , I'd still have to spend a fortune on clothes. Jeans are no problem! Chat Icon That is a MAJOR draw for me
