2nd Pregnancy Baby Shower
Would you give someone a Baby Shower if this is going to be her 2nd baby. My SIL is, and my sister and my mom is thinking of giving her one. Should they?

Re: 2nd Pregnancy Baby Shower
Just from knowing what we do in my family - if it is someone that really needs some help with things, or if it has been a while since that someone has had a child, we will have another shower. Since this person shower was not that long ago, you could have a little shower for her. Maybe, invite a couple of family members and a couple of her friends, but nothing crazy.

Re: 2nd Pregnancy Baby Shower
We have done them for my friends. It has always been a different sex baby though and we keep it small at someone's house.

Re: 2nd Pregnancy Baby Shower
If it's been a long time since the first baby then yes, they get a shower. But for a 2nd baby three years apart our family wouldn't throw a shower.

Re: 2nd Pregnancy Baby Shower
I don't believe in showers for 2nd babies unless there is a large age gap. Maybe you could do a diaper and wipes party.

Re: 2nd Pregnancy Baby Shower
We had a shower for my SIL's 2nd baby but it was my brother's 1st (1st child from a different relationship) and it was a different sex this time. They are 3 yrs apart. We kept it low key too.

Re: 2nd Pregnancy Baby Shower
We had an informal party for my friend when she had her second baby. We wanted to celebrate her baby, but not with a formal shower. So whe had a stock the nursery type party with diapers, wipes, etc.

Re: 2nd Pregnancy Baby Shower
My sister is pregnant with #2 and I'm throwing her a small shower. Things can change in couple of years.

I probably wouldn't have a full fledged shower. I would opt for a lunch with close friends instead...gifts would be optional.

I was going to say the same thing. My mom, 2 sisters and one SIL are taking me out to lunch for a "second shower" luncheon. No gifts (but they will anyway), just family and a good time. They are doing this because we know we are having a girl, and I had a boy last time.

Re: 2nd Pregnancy Baby Shower
I only had a "2nd" shower at work and my kids are 5 years apart. My family never has 2nd showers.

Re: 2nd Pregnancy Baby Shower
Me and my mom gave my sister a 2nd baby shower, but it wasnt as big as her 1st. We had it at my house and invited just a few friends and family. Had like a brunch.

Re: 2nd Pregnancy Baby Shower
I am not a fan of "giving a shower so someone gets what they need"...It is not my relatives or friends responsiblity to give me what I need. I had a baby shower in 2003, I do not expect nor would I want another in 2006. If a few friends or immediate family want to get together to celebrate a new baby that is fine...but a full blown shower is not appropriate IMO.
