Gift ideas for Nursery school teachers?
My sons graduation is next week
I was wondering what the best gift is to get for his teacher and TA. Also is it wrong to give the teacher more? She really goes above and beyond to make everything so creative and educational. For Xmas I gave them handbags that I thought was their taste, the teachers with costume jewelry in it (she wears some every single daY) and the TA ( much younger) some lotions, etc. in it). so they were similar gifts but a little more for the teacher.
I know gift cards are a big hit, right? I feel like a "gift gift" is more personal and thoughtful, but then again, only if you know them that well, that it will be useful...
Suggestions? I tried to do a search since im sure this was posted before, but nothing came up. Maybe I just searched wrong words...
thanks!

Re: Gift ideas for Nursery school teachers?
I think what ever gift you give is greatly appreciated by the teacher... it means that you have valued what they did for your child. Gifts however are unescessary but like I said, appreciated. I am a kinder. teacher and have always loved the more personal gifts. It just means that you have gotten to know your child's teacher. I also love gift cards/gift cert. to dinner, nails etc.... It gives me the chance to pamper myself and gives me something to do over the summer when money is tight. Giving the teacher in the class more than the TA is expected... the teacher does most of the work- planning, grading, keeping track of your child's progress, communicating with you. Whatever you decide doesn't have to cost a lot of $$$$$. Even a $5 gift card to borders or blockbuster ment so much to me.
You are very thoughtful.
PS- the best gift I got was a story one of my students wrote about me (with help) about their year with me and all the great things we did. The parent had it bound and the cover laminated. I still have it and read it from time to time.

Re: Gift ideas for Nursery school teachers?
The all-time best gift I ever got as a teacher was an apron that the class mom helped all the kids to make for me. It said "We Love You Miss Melissa - Pre-K Class of 2001" on the front in the middle with fabric paint and they she had each kid make thier handprint on the apron with fabric paint, and write thier name next to thier hand with perminant marker. It wasnt an expensive gift but it meant so much.
I just think that handmade, thoughtful gifts are best. Maybe you could take a picture of your child with the teachers and get a frame made up -- or a calander for next year -- maybe something from that booth in the mall that makes personalized things with photos? You could get an apron made up there with a photo that says Thank You for being the Best Pre-K teacher! and has a photo of the class or the child with the teacher and then they could use it as a smock since sooooo many arts & crafts are done in pre-k/nursery school.

Re: Gift ideas for Nursery school teachers?
Dh's mom teaches nursery to Kindergarden classes and her favorite gift is a gift certificate. Restaurants, massages, retail stores are the ones she absolutely appreciates the most. She gets alot of "gift gifts" and most of the time she doesn't even open the actual present and winds up giving it away.
She does LOVE things that come from the heart or something the kids have made for her. One year she received a picture from one of her students with a sweet message on teh back, she showed it to everyone!
And it's soo okay to give the TA less of gift.
