Re: Student Loan interest rate just went up
I went online and applied with NextStudent and got a rate of 3.75 or something like that. However, I had to do it before July 1st because that was when they were all going up.

i did mine on Sallie Mae to lock it in at that rate too. I think that it definately Had to be done before July first, b/c the rates went up then, so i dont know if youll find any luck getting it that low... maybe something a little lower, but i'm not sure about something in the 3's though

Re: Student Loan interest rate just went up
I think there is a formula they use to calculate what your consolidated rate will be based on your current interest rate(s). Unfortunately, I think you had to consolidate before 7/1 to stay in the 3's b/c of the formula. Keep searching around. You never know what you'll find!

Re: Student Loan interest rate just went up
all of my loans are consolodatd though VSAC (vermont student's assitance corp) becauise i went to school in vermont, they held some of my loans....dont know what or if they work with those who have no connection to vermont, but give them a try. www.vsac.com
everyone there is REALLY nice. they stayed on the phone and walked me through the consolodation application and then they took $$ off of my principal and take $ off the interest rate for doing direct debit
