LOST OUT ON OUR 4th HOME BID!
I have had it- this one went on the market yesterday and we bid asking price immediately- our realtor assured us that if there were multiple offers they would counter so not to write it for more.
Well guess what- they went with someone else who had their contingencies removed- dumb I think since they now can't back out no matter what- but at this point we would have done the same thing. My DH is sooo mad and upset as I am but he is done. He wants to fire our realtor. I am actually in agreement now but how do I do it? I have been working with him for over 6 years and he sold me my condo. I just think when he has a buyer who is willing to pay whatever to get a house- he should get the deal done. Am I wrong?

Re: LOST OUT ON OUR 4th HOME BID!
first -
I would try another realtor, it doesn't hurt. did you sign anything with your current realtor? if not, just call someone else and see what happens.
CA still sounds like a very hot sellers market! hang in there

Re: LOST OUT ON OUR 4th HOME BID!
Thanks for the advice and hugs- We don't have an agreement with him but he is the one showing us everything the past two years. I just don't understand how he keeps blowing each deal. He just sold our condo so he will get the commission on that so I don't feel too bad.

Re: LOST OUT ON OUR 4th HOME BID!
I'm sorry...I definitely know how you feel. Offer #8 was the charm for us Over the 16 months of looking we used 3 different realtor's, took ourselves off the market 3 times and wound up placing the "winning bid" with the seller's realtor of our soon-to-be house.
It's frustrating but sometimes change is good - whether you change the realtor, location or requirements.
Keep your head up, something will come along (most likely) when you least expect it.

If you feel your realtor isn't really doing it for you than by all means you should switch. But I do think that if another buyer comes in with the same exact amount and better terms it may be more appealing to them.
Don't let it get you down. I know that it is so frustrating but just think that this wasn't the house for you and your DH and something better will come along!

Re: LOST OUT ON OUR 4th HOME BID!
i totally understand your frustration, but don't put too much stock into advice your realtors give as far as offers are concerned. yes they are in the biz and have seen a lot of transactions, however they know just as much as you do prior as far as other people, other bids are concerned - nothing. if the realtor is not showing the type of properties you are interested in, or personalities don't click, then get a new one. otherwise i would keep the $$$ advice out of the discussions, it will make your head spin!
go with your gut. offer what you believe the house to be "worth" and/or what you are willing to pay. don't second guess yourself. there will always be someone willing to pay more and less than you are. the right match will happen when your bid is accepted!
ETA: removing contingencies is very dangerous IMO. unless you have crazy amounts of cash on hand in case something went horribly wrong in the transaction and you needed to absorb the costs, i would not remove contingencies. chalk it up to a blessing in disguise...

Re: LOST OUT ON OUR 4th HOME BID!
I feel your pain, we had the same thing happen to us. We are in house #5 and at first I felt like we settled due to the frustration with losing the others, but now 2 years later we know that things happen for a reason and this was the best house for us. Hang in there!

Re: LOST OUT ON OUR 4th HOME BID!
We bid on 10 homes. I know how you feel. It took us 8 realtors to find us the house and to negotiate it.
New realtor =new oppys..
good luck!

Re: LOST OUT ON OUR 4th HOME BID!
Christine,
I'm so sorry. You must be at your wits end. It is so stressful coordinating a sell/buy. If you had your house in contract then you'd be stressed about the sale.
I'd definitely change realtors though. It sounds as if it would be less stressful with someone else.

at least you are seeing houses you like to bid on....that is a positive so true! DH and I have seen at LEAST 40 properties and bid on 1 we lost the bid, but it wasn't the right house anyway. we just liked the neighborhood.
I have seen so LITTLE worth bidding on

Man, that's the pits! Fire that guy if he's not working out! This is business-and if you're getting what you need time to look for a new realtor!!
Keep pressing on, don't give up, your house is still out there!!!
