Sleeping Issues
OMG....I have been up all night with this kid!
He went to sleep in my bed at 7, woke up at 12.30 am, went back to bed in his crib until around 3 am...and we have been up since! Its like as soon as he starts to fall asleep, he starts fighting it and cries...
Lucky me!
I have absolutely no idea how to get Noah to sleep longer! I am going to get the Weissbluth book this afternoon and start asap. I am fed up and exhausted!
My other problem is that Noah won't go to his father, he cries and cries and cries, so even if I want to go have a nap in the afternoon, I am screwed because I can't bear to hear him crying for more than 20 minutes or so!
How can this baby not be tired??

Re: Sleeping Issues
Is something bothering him? I don't remember you having issues with him before. Maybe he still can't get his schedule straight from your trip.
Any new foods? If he is crying with his eyes closed then something must be up! Gas? I gave Antonio sweet potatoe the other night and he was up all night crying with his eyes closed.

Re: Sleeping Issues
I think he's crying BECAUSE he's so tired.
I'll tell you that the Weisbluth book uses crying....and it starts with changing the naps....and tells you to put them down for a nap and let them cry for an hr if you have to.
Another pointer is the same wake up time every morning and the morning nap around the same time every day (hard for us since I take her to work with me but when we are home the routine is GREAT).
I haven't finished it yet, but I'll tell you that the last 3 nights and days I've let her cry for naps and going to bed and she's out within 5-10 min IF that. I let her cry, console her but when I go in there, she's already got her eyes closed but crying. What a drama queen.
She took a 2 hr nap yesterday AM (10:15-12:15ish)....and that was after 1 hr and 15 min of Awake time and she's 5 1/2 months old.
Oh...and the daddy thing....let DH take care of Noah for a full day....seriously or more so that Noah gets used to him.

Both, sleeping & won't go to daddy. DH works all day and I am home. I don't know what the problem is. He just started acting this way when DH went back to work after being home for two weeks when he was born. Oh well, we'll see what happens today.

Re: Sleeping Issues
Okay, I have just bought the Weissbluth book and I am going to read it tonight...at 12.30, 3.00 and 4.30am most likely!
Thanks for all your advice...this morning I broke out the swing, which he never liked and he slept in it from around 8 to 11.30! I slept on the sofa...the door went twice and both times I got up and got it in my nightgown!! What was I thinking! Also, the window washers came and scared the living bejesus out of me!
I will let you all know how we get on! Thanks again for all your support!

Re: Sleeping Issues
I've noticed that Katie sleeps longer when I have the npise maker (sleep machine) or the fan on. She also likes to feel surrounded so I put her in her little seat (looks like a carseat but isnt) and she feels the sides around her - then I turn on the machine and she will sleep much longer than she does without noise.
I dont have many other suggestions since Im new at this myself...of but she also slept better when I was putting rice cereal in her bottle but that constipated her.
