Re: any teachers geta masters in special education online
just be careful because NYS does not accept all on-line programs. Someone in my student teaching seminar had a HUGE problem with NYS not accepting University of Phoenix credits for certification.

Just repeating, but you do have to make sure it's through an approved university. I believe they have a list somewhere of acceptable institutions. I am not doing my masters online, I am just going to finish up my last few credits online, though. Wish I had known they do online masters in my field beforehand! So much easier.

The difference is that you are doing work for a school that has not been accredited by any state or federal educational agency. Many of these online schools - I'm not talking about sattelite programs from universities - have not had to go through any process like real colleges and universities do.

on nysed.gov there is a list of approved institutions for all certification programs.

The Univ. of Phoenix is regionally accreditted. I don't know if they accept the credits for teaching, but every SUNY must accept the credits of every regionally accreditted school.
