First week after labor
I will be posting this on the pregnancy board also, but figured you ladies have already gone through this you can help. Who stood with you the first week right after giving birth? Did you have vistors? Have family stay over?

Re: First week after labor
I had a c-section and I was not in the mood to have visitors. I only had my parents and & DH's parents stop by and visit real quick. I would say about 3-4 weeks later I had other family and friends visit.

Re: First week after labor
I had a c-section and my MIL stayed with us for the first week, and then my sister for the second week. We had DH's family over here 2 days after I came home and I can tell you it was TOO MUCH! Even though I didn't have to do anything, it was still stressful. Also, I recommend NOT having your MIL unless you have a really good relationship with her. Even though she tried to help, I could not WAIT for her to leave. All she wanted to do was take care of the baby (which I was capable of doing), and make the meals (I'm sorry, but I don't worry about what we're having for dinner when it is only 9am!). She did not do the things that I needed her to do because I was not able to -- sweeping and mopping my floors, cleaning the bathrooms, dusting the shelves, vacuuming, etc...

Re: First week after labor
My husband was home for a week after the baby wasa born and our immediate family (parents, brothers, sisters, grandparents) came to visit us at home and help take care of the baby and cook dinner for us.
I remember some nights - they stayed over longer than i liked - and i remember feeling overwhelmed because I was trying to breastfeed, had stiches and was overly tired and in pain - sometimes they got the drift and left alittle early - some nights they stayed later - which upset me at times. Most of our friends and family came over after a few weeks to a month after the baby was born

Re: First week after labor
I had a c-section. JT took that week off, and my mom stayed with us. My dad, my sister, my grandparents and my aunts, uncles and cousins all came over that first week. I was actually feeling pretty good. Tired, but good. And it was nice to have my family around, but we're very close and see each other every week, anyway, so that was the norm for us.

My DH took 2 weeks off (and luckily there was a vacation the next week) so he had 3 weeks off! My parents and IL's were always over

Re: First week after labor
DH was off for 2 weeks. My parents came up the morning I had DD and stayed a week, they slept at my brothers house. My IL's came up the day of Gianna's birth and stayed 1 night at my house to take care of the dog, then went home and came back up that Saturday and stayed til sunday. Family came to visit about 2 weeks after gianna's birth. I live in CT, all my fam, except bro is on LI, so we had no pop in's, but people stayed at least a day when they came to visit.
After that we were on our own for a couple weeks.

Re: First week after labor
No one stayed over. I had several visitors, probably each day during the first week which was good since I came home on a Sunday and DH had to go back to work on Monday

this is exactly what I'm afraid of happening. I don't have a good or bad relationship, but know that she will try to take over taking care of my child and that i think i can do. I am trying to find away to explain this to my dh without insulting his mom or getting him PO.

Re: First week after labor
Basically it was just me and DH when we got home with the baby. We were living with my FIL at the time but we stayed upstairs for the most part. He was helpful when I needed to heat up bottles and stuff but noone stayed over to help us out. Family and friends visited but usually after a little bit I wanted them to leave just so that we could rest together. I also had issues with breastfeeding and didn't like people always asking me about it and trying to help. I just kinda wanted to be on our own to get to know eachother better.

Re: First week after labor
My DH was home for a few days and my mom flew in from NY. She stayed for 2 weeks. The last weekend she was here my father and brothers came and then they all left together. My ILs live nearby so they just came for quick visits.

Re: First week after labor
Just DH. We wanted to have time to ourselves to adjust without the pressure of visitors. We had some friends and family visit us in the hospital.
