What exactly is a fetal echo?
I go for one Tuesday. Is it a sonogram of the heart? Can you see the whole baby?
TIA

Re: What exactly is a fetal echo?
I had one, they zoom in on the heart to check all the chambers, it's just like a regular sono, I saw the whole baby, then they zoomed in on the heart.

I had one too. That is excatly what it is. They also check the blood flow, arteries and oxygen levels in the blood via the sono. I was told it is 99% accurate. The only way to be 100% accurate is for the baby to have a echocardiogram once they are born. Where are you having it done? I went to Columbia Presbyterian and they were awesome & very informative. FM me if you want info.
Good Luck and don't worry. At least, you get to see your little one again!

I too have to get one at 22 weeks. Do you get the results right there or do you have to wait?

I got the results right there. They were looking for specific things and I had it directly with the doctor my Cardiologist recommended, not a tech. The tech did half of it (measurements and such) then the doctor came in to do the second half (actually looking at the heart and chambers). They also called the next day just to tell me that the results were fine. I would insist on having the doctor there for part of it and getting the results asap. If a tech does it then the results have to be reviewed by the doctor and that can take days. I am very assertive and proactive when I comes to my health and dealing with doctors. A lot of people do not agree with my approach, but it works for me. Do not be afraid to insist that the doctor give you the results that day. Good Luck.
