Question about part-time pay
If you currently work at a full time job where let's say they pay you $12 an hour for a 40 hr work week what would it would be if you went part time and cut your hours to 20 would the the $12 an hour now be $6 an hour?
I was just wondering

Why wouldn't you be earning $12 an hour at 20 hours? They are cutting your hours, not your rate of pay, aren't they?

No, you'd get paid $12 an hour for the amount of hours you worked.

Yes, and if they cut to 10 hours it would be $3 an hour.

I believe that so long as the responsibilities remain the same the hourly rate will remain the same. So you will continue with the $12 but at 20 hours.

Your hourly rate will be the same, but with your total hours being cut in half your total gross salary, will be half of what it was for double the hours.
