Another Broadway show question
Sorry to be a pain... I'm trying to pick a show to surprise my husband with for his birthday so I'm trying to get ideas. I already asked about Wicked. Has anyone seen Mamma Mia or Hairspray? Any thoughts on either one or both? TIA!

Re: Another Broadway show question
I think out of the 3, Wicked is your best bet.
I would see Wicked. I would never see Mamma Mia or Hairspray. But it's also a matter of taste. Also I think some random celbrity is in Harispray right now.

Re: Another Broadway show question
I haven't seen Hairspray but I enjoyed Mama Mia.
Another suggestion: 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. Very cute and a lot of fun. I just saw it last weekend.

I have seen all 3 & also think that Wicked was the best. I second Avenue Q-saw it twice. It is hysterical.

Re: Another Broadway show question
I saw Mamma Mia before it came to B'way. It's a ball of fluff, but if you like ABBA music you will probably enjoy it.
Hairspray is slightly better. At least it has original music.
Ave Q is hilarious.
Spelling Bee is wonderful.

I would do Wicked or Sweeny Todd.
I haven't seen Mama Mia, but was told it's geared more towards females.

Re: Another Broadway show question
I love Mama Mia, but Dh wasn't thrilled- I'm guessing your DH may not be either. I suggest Wicked, rent or Avenue Q

Re: Another Broadway show question
What are your and DH's tastes for shows?
Do you prefer musicals? Do you like fluff or something more meaningful?
What are some things you both liked in the past?

We like things with more of a plot. Our all time favorite was Les Miz. He loved Phantom of the Opera but I was not a big fan of that. Basically something with a good plot over just a lot of fluff. Thanks!

Re: Another Broadway show question
I've seen Mama Mia and Wicked. I'd definitely picked Wicked over Mama Mia. I also really liked Avenue Q. DH doesn't really like Broadway, but enjoyed Avenue Q. It's hysterical.

You definitely don't have to be a theater person to like Avenue Q. i think it was originally conceived as a cable show

I saw Mamma Mia, loved it! but IMO, it's a girlie show - unless your DH is a huge Abba fan
