can someone tell me normal BP while preggo?
I am concerned bc I always had 110/70 then it went to 150/100 at level 2, last week it was 140/90 and today with a horrible headache they got 130/90. Are all of these BPS horrendous? Generally I feel ok (except today) and I am totally not swollen.

Re: can someone tell me normal BP while preggo?
My preggo BP is 110/70. I know that pre-preggo, it is much lower. but, I have low blood pressure (obviously) to begin with.
Sorry I can't be of help. Although, I really don't think those numbers are too high.

My BP is around 140/80 but it's been consistent since I had my first 8 week visit.

Re: can someone tell me normal BP while preggo?
To me those numbers do not sound high at all.. I dont think the increase is that much and I do think we tend to run higher BPs when pregnant. I honestly would not worry.
I have VERY low BP on average.. before becoming PG is was low and still is overall. At my last appointment, it was something like 90/60 .. (but I had been fasting from the night before for my glucose test) Its been averaging about 110/70 the entire pregnancy.

Re: can someone tell me normal BP while preggo?
My pre-preggo BP was around 80/60. I was always pretty low.
Now that I'm preggo. It is more "normal". 120/90 130/100.

Actually those numbers are something to be a little concerned about. Your blood pressure should not shoot up that high just because of pregnancy. Your diastolic pressure (the bottom number) is what is concerning me. Anything 90 or above is considered high. You could have PIH(pregnancy induced hypertension) which needs to be monitored closely. Have they worked you up for pre-eclampsia yet? High blood pressure alone does not necessarily mean you have pre-eclampisa (toxemia) Do you suffer from headaches, edema or are you testing positive for protein in your urine?
ETA: Do they repeat your b/p when it is high. One high reading doesn't necessarily mean you have high b/p. Were you stressed at the time or recently doing something physically exerting.

The answer to headaches, protein in urine, and edema are all no...in fact Ive only gained a total of about 7 pounds and I am in my 23 week so its not like my body has changed drastically either. I just went down to the nurses here. I got a reading of 130/90 with a real bad headache. I dont know whats going on. Tomm my OB appt

Re: can someone tell me normal BP while preggo?
When I go to the Dr. they usually take it at the beginning of the appt. and it is usually high then they will take it at the end of the appt. They do this to check and see if it is related to being nervous. In my case it is - and my BP can go REALLY high. They also have me monitor it at home.
Turns out my BP only goes up if I am nervous so far. This may be the case for you.
My BP at the Dr is usually 140/90 even though at home it is 105/60. When I have been really nervous it has gotten so high that they won't even tell me what it is.

Aside from checking your blood pressure and urine they draw blood to check if your liver enzymes are elevated. Also if you had been testing positive for urine they might ask you to do a 24hr urine test in which you save all your urine for 24hrs for more detailed testing.

That's what we call in the medical field "white coat syndrome" Meaning the sight of a doctor (or someone official probably wearing a white lab coat )causes your b/p to shoot up

I get white coat too- ever since my 12 week appt when I was waiting for the results of the NT_ every time I go in there my blood pressure is high- they have to take it at least one more if not two more times after I hear the heartbeat and drink water.

myh dr said it will fluctuate thorghout pregnancy - your body's water content increases 40% over the 9 mos. - so unless your dr has concerns, you are fine!

Re: can someone tell me normal BP while preggo?
I think it is high. I had toxemia and when the lower number would go over 90 my Dr. got very worried. That is why I delivered early because my pressure was 160/92. I also had protein in my urine, and other symptoms but I would be concerned.

Re: can someone tell me normal BP while preggo?
I am totally concerned and I am gonna see my OB today. Let me ask this...while the top # fluctuates and sometimes seems closer to decent, the bottom number keeps going 90-100. For example Ive hear 130/90, 150/100, etc...if it went to lets say 110/100 (if thats possible is that still bad? I am unsure what the two numbers measure.
