eBay! Is this were America shops?

I swear, I never got the point. What is it, exactly? And how much are people "swapping"?

Isn't craiglist.org the same thing, but there's no bargaining, it's just a set price? Chat Icon

I dont know what you mean by swapping Chat Icon but ebay is different than craigslist in alot of ways.

Craigslist:

Mainly local pick ups
Not a bidding forum -prices are set or negotiated
No fees
Reaches far less people than ebay
Buyer/seller can reneg on agreement to buy/sell with no repercussions

ebay:

Fees
Accountability - can get banned from ebay or receive negative feedback (feedback: aka your "ebay rep")
reaches many people all over the world
Item can be bid up to the highest price that a person is willing to pay
Usually items are shipped although you can also do local p/u's

Those are just a few ways that the 2 are different. I buy and sell on both and both have their positives and negatives.

Ebay is not swapping -- it's auctions. People sell stuff and you bid on the items for sale. The highest bidder wins, pays the seller and then received the item. Some vendors do offer a "Buy it Now" option that is usually higher then the starting bid price. You take the risk of paying more then you have to but you def. get the item you want that way. There are safeguards in place to protect both the buyer and seller.

You can basically get anything on ebay. If you needed dirty socks, there's probably a listing for it..LOL

The only thing with Ebay is to not get caught up in a bidding war and to know your prices. It's best to research getting the item in a regular store (traditonal or virtual) and calculate the cost with shipping, tax or other applicable charges & discounts to determine if you are getting a deal on ebay.

Craigslist is a gigantic classified listing -- you can find jobs, services, apts, homes and "stuff'.

HTH!
