Medela v. Ameda Breast Pump

So sorry to crash your site again, but I'm wondering which breast pump you prefer - Medela or Ameda Purely Yours? And for anyone who uses the Ameda pump, where did you get it? I can't find it at BRU or BBB.

Re: Medela v. Ameda Breast Pump

You can order both pumps through La Leche League -- www.lll.org is thier website I believe.

Just in my experience -- I used an ameda hospital grade pump in the hospital and found it EXTREMELY painful. It pulled on my nipples really bad, even on low settings, and really hurt them badly. I now use the Medela PIS at home when I do pump, and it is WONDERFUL. It was such a difference from the Ameda pump, and it wasn't even hospital grade.

I think Ameda was the brand in my hospital. When it came time to buy my own, I went for Medela Pump in Style. I liked the backpack one bc the pump was smaller

Re: Medela v. Ameda Breast Pump

Ameda and Medela are owned by brothers...so talk about a monopoly.
They are VERY simliar products, but have different marketing strategies. Ameda markets to the hospitals. Medela markets to consumers. Ameda is less expensive because they do not spend nearly as much money on ads and in store displays etc..
With that said I LOVED my Medela hospital grade pump, although I did have to get used to it. I needed it for low supply issues. My PISA could not have helped with that the same way. After 12 weeks I used my PISA and it was great. I have no complaints and would rec'd it highly.

I got mine thru eBay, NEW, factory-sealed with a full warrenty. The seller is The Leche Connection. She was great and I saved nearly a $100 off the BRU price on my pump.
