Re: Help! Water in basement
Wet Vac or pool pump could be a quick fix.

Re: Help! Water in basement
my brother is bring both over tomorrow morning...but should I still have someone come in???
My dad is my fix-it guy and something always happens when he is away on vacation...lucky guy..he is in the Bahamas. So now I have to wait until he gets back to decide what to do.
Anyone use a basement waterproof system...a professional one?

Re: Help! Water in basement
it may not be froma crack in the foundation (I hope not for your sake)...our basement window was leaking all day yesterday...the window well is very deep, but all the rain filled it up (about 5 feet!!) and it came pouring in...
thankfully DH was working from home yesterday when I discovered it in the morning...
he shopvaced all the water...including the water in the window well...and took our pool cover pump (the one for the basement broke - hence the flooding) and hooked it up
the worst part for us...is all that water has rotten the window casing...so we will have to replace that

Re: Help! Water in basement
I just heard a commercial on 1010 wins on the way to work for Volcan Basement Waterproofing company. It said if you call them, they'll send you a brochure on it that has tips on how to find the problem and fix it yourself if it isn't major.

Re: Help! Water in basement
We live in my parents basement apartment, and when they were renovating it for us, they hired someone who put a drain in around the perimeter of the basement , and there's a big basin under a closet. It pumps out anywater into the sewer system. Thank God, because I'd be floating around my apartment right now. I think it was 3K for it, but worth it, if you think of the damages that could be done.
