Re: question about baby clothes sizing
It's hard to judge. Roman is 5 months and growing out of his 3-6 month clothes already. I would go with 12 or even 18 months just to be safe. Certain brands don't run true to size.

Re: question about baby clothes sizing
My daughter was born 9/7 and has been true to size since she's been born. In other words, when she was 3 mos., she was wearing 3 mos, etc.
Now, that she's just about 10 months, she's pretty much outgrowing 6-9 and wearing 12 months now.

I agree. My monster of a son is only 5 months and filling out his 6-9 months already! Some of it doesnt fit him right anymore so fall clothes will definitely be 12 months. I always found that Carters runs most true to size.

Re: question about baby clothes sizing
it's so hard to tell....DD was running true to size until about 4 months old when she started with 6 month size. Now at 6 months old she's in 6-9 months or 6-12 depending on the store. For us, we need length more than anything and everything seems to shrink.
I was so upset when we received 12 month summer outfits for her baptism...but now I'm pretty sure she'll be in them come Aug/Sept.

Re: question about baby clothes sizing
You shouldn't buy anything so you can wait and see what size is right in what season. You are going to get a ton of gifts in all sizes, and baby clothes are always cheap anyhow.

Re: question about baby clothes sizing
Dd is always smaller, like now she is 7 months in still in a lot of 3-6 stuff.
But last summer when I was pg I bought a TON of summer stuff in 6-9 and it all fits now (or will by the end of summer) and I am so happy!

Re: question about baby clothes sizing
Isabella was born 9/8...she is still wearing some 3-6 month onesies but is mostly in 6-9 month clothing with a few pieces 12 months...
It's hard to guess...I know what you mean on wanting to stock up though....
and if you have seen pics of her, she does not look tiny, I guess it just depends on their build...

Re: question about baby clothes sizing
you're kind of taking a chance, especially since you don't know yet if she's going to be a big baby or a small baby. my son was 9lbs 5 oz at birth and by about a month old he was in 3-6 month size and since about 3 months old he's been in 6-9 month size. he's very long so once piece outfits and things that have to snap under the crotch got small very quickly while 2 piece outfits fit him for a longer time. while i would love to stock up on clothes, i feel like it's too hard to predict what size he will be in. even so many of the clothes i got at my shower he couldn't wear because they were all the wrong season eta: no one in my family or dh's family even had a baby over 8 lbs so my big boy was quite a surprise! my ob said i was probably going to have a 7 pounder. you just never know. and then there's all the mom's whose obs told them they were going to have a big baby and ended up with peanuts!

Re: question about baby clothes sizing
Its really hard to judge. My daughter is 9 months old and can still wear some 3-6 month stuff in summer clothes and she was 8lbs at birth.

Re: question about baby clothes sizing
My DD has been way under size since birth. It is a shame because i have SOOO much stuff still with tags on them that she never got a chance to wear because she is 10 months old and most of her clothing is 3-6 months. It is really hard to perdict how big or small your little one is going to be. Good luck.

Re: question about baby clothes sizing
I think I would buy 12 mo size. Chances are it will shrink a little when washed and you have all summer for her to grow in to it.
Katie will be 1 yr at the end of April and I'm buying her 18mo for next summer.
Buy a little - just a few things you LOVE. Hold on to the receipts and/or if they dont fit give them as gifts or save them for baby #2!
