Spinoff to Sex Question....reagarding Sperm & it's effects
we've all read that the dr tells us to have sex at the end to stimulate labor because sperm has something in it that stimulates the uterus/cervix....
SOOO.....at what point BEFORE that close to the end should protection be used (ie: between 20-35 weeks??)

I didn't think protection ever had to be used

why would you use protection? Unless your body is getting ready for labor, I don't think the sperm will have any effect on your cervix. I maybe wrong. We had sex until I was about 39 weeks, we stopped only bc I was uncomfortable. But I didn't go into labor until I was 41 weeks.

Some people are more sensitive than others so unless you're at risk for preterm labor or if you have cramping that is uncomfortable, I wouldn't do it.

oh ok...I just thought that the effect sperm has could trigger preterm labor, I did not know it was only for when you are TRYING to go into labor.

Yea, I don't think it would trigger pre-term labor, unless you had some kind of problem and then maybe it would be something to discuss with your doctor.

I just found this information: "...Prostaglandin-sometimes used to soften the cervix in early labor-is present in semen but in minute amounts-not enough to induce labor..."
