Lamaze/child birth classes
Is it worth it? What are the pros/cons? TIA
ETA: I have only spoken with two friends who took these classes. One was for it, one said it was a waste of time and money. I am undecided on what I should do. Looking for advice. thanks!

Re: Lamaze/child birth classes
it was informative at what was to come during the labor. Ialso likedit because they told me about the epidural cut-off time.
However during labor I did not use any of the breathing techniques. I really used the pushing techniques!

Re: Lamaze/child birth classes
I only took the parenting class offered by the hospital and it was great- full of info of what to expect during regular and c-section delivery. I never bothered with lamaze because I thought they would be a waste of my time since I would have got the epidural anyway.

Re: Lamaze/child birth classes
I took Hypnobirth classes. Bradley is also great. Fear and not understanding what is happening to your body and baby during the various stages of labor can actually cause YOU more pain. You need to be able to make very informed decisions during L&D and the classes can also help you with pros/cons of various medical decisions. An epidural has pros/cons you need to understand them before making that decision. PLUS pain is not all L&D is about. There is sooo much more. The classes also help your husband prepare for what will be happening. It is not easy to support someone when you have no idea what is going on or what will happen next. I believe knowledge is power. I would never rec'd Lamaze to anyone..but there are amazing birthing classes that can truly prepare you for L&D and actually feel confident about it.
