aunt flo & ttc question

I went to a bridal shower today and sat with 2 girls I know who are pregnant.

One of them is pregnant with her 3rd baby and told me that she didn't know she was pregnant because she had gotten her period.

I was also told that one of thier SIL's got her period for a few months and had no idea when se was pregnant.

My question is now that AF is in town is there a possibility? ( i doubt it for me but this sounds crazy)
Have any of you ever heard of this?

Re: aunt flo & ttc question

I wonder how true this is...Did they have a true period or some spotting ya know?
a period is the shedding of the lining, needed to sustain a pregnancy..I have always heard this story but wonder how in the heck it could ever be true..it doesnt seem medically possible.

Basically the answer is no...I always hear people say, NOT true..my friend such and such..well like these articles show..its impossible to get a period and be pregnant...its usually just some sort of other bleeding people think are periods...Its common to bleed from the cervix while pregnant..y...

Question: Can you be pregnant and still get your period?

Answer: Well, no, you can't get your period once you're pregnant — once your body starts producing the hormone human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) and your pregnancy is established, your menstrual cycle is interrupted and normal periods will stop — but you may have bleeding or spotting during pregnancy that can seem like a period.

Can you have a full period if you are pregnant? If so, how?

Oshiri, 10.26.00

The Answer:

Dear Oshiri,

Pregnant women cannot have a regular period. During menstruation, the lining of the uterus, which is made of blood and tissue, leaves the body through the vagina. When a woman is pregnant, the fertilized egg attaches itself to this lining of the uterus, so it does not leave the body.

If a woman seems to be menstruating normally, it is highly unlikely that she is pregnant. Usually the first sign of pregnancy is a missed period. However, some pregnant women may get light spotting during the first couple months of pregnancy that may seem like a period — but this is rare. If a woman is experiencing other symptoms of pregnancy such as nausea, fatigue, frequent urination, headaches, and sore or enlarged breasts, she should take a pregnancy test just to be sure.

Can you be pregnant and still have a period?

To start with, always remember that pregnancy and periods can never go along simultaneously. If you are indeed pregnant, technically, you cannot get your periods. Missing your period is actually the first sign of pregnancy. Bleeding in early pregnancy is a common occurrence, but this does not signal a true menstrual cycle
