christening- favor advise needed
i am having a hard time finding favors i like for a christening. i dont want to do a candle or a picture frame. and just saw an add for charactatures. what do you think about that. the guy would come in for 3 of the 4 hours and do that. i have 140 people 36 are kids. i was also thinkingfor the kids table to have a basket of activities for them. ie coloring books, games stuff like that.

I think the characture idea is different... and I LOVE the coloring book idea....
There is always the chocalate lollipops/ or crosses idea as favors.... I did that for DS christening, it was so cheap and easy!

I have been to christenings where they give out these really cute candle containers with the baby's picture on them (oh and the candle smells like baby powder!)

DH doesnt want candy or candles as favors. That is my problem and there is not too much to choose from expecially since we have to buy for 140 people.

Re: christening- favor advise needed
We did photo cookies for my 2nd's Baptism. They were a big hit.
We also had a caricaturist for his party. I only had about 50 ppl, and I was surprised at how many wanted their portrait done! I hired him for 1 1/2 hours. If he didn't have to go to another booking, I would have paid him to stay another 1/2 hour to finish. With 140 ppl, you may need 2 artists.
ETA: here's the website I got the caricaturist from:
http://www.the-nose.com/partystates/nyparty.html
They all know each other and often work together. I used Elgin (he'll only do the "guest of honor" in color, the rest are in b/w. It takes much longer for a color portrait. Anyway, he was GREAT!!

I think the charactature is a great idea -- very unique!
I was going to make CD favors, but the closer the date gets the less likely that seems to be happening.
