crib question

My daughter is only 1 weeks old. I was thinking of putting her in her crib starting next week during the day only and in the bassinet at night so she is near me for those wonderful middle of the night feedings. Does this sound o.k.? I want to start her in the crib sooner than later, her bedroom is right across the hall form my room .

Re: crib question

My daughter slept in her crib for the first 2 weeks but little by little she refused to. She would only sleep in the bouncer until around 2.5 months when she started having problems sleeping in it so we did the transition to the crib. You're daughter will most likely be the deciding factor -- she'll let you know where she wants to sleep and you'll probably take whatever you can get!

Re: crib question

Thats a good idea, it will get her used to the crib and wont be such a "shock" when she is moved from bassinet to crib

Re: crib question

Is there any reason why a baby shouldn't be in a crib right away? I wasn't planning on getting a bassinet and I really don't want him/her sleeping in our room. I have absolutely no problems with other people cosleeping but it just isn't right for DH and I.

Re: crib question

that's a good idea. That way your baby will get used to sleeping in the crib. My girls have been in their crib since day one. And my girls seem to prefer to sleep in their crib then anywhere else!

Re: crib question

Personally I don't think it's ever too early to start introducing the crib or putting a baby in his/her crib right away. Michael was 2 weeks old when we started the crib for sleeping at night and he slept the best that way... he rarely sleeps anywhere else now...

I put Ryan in his crib since day 1 and have had no problems. I wanted him to get used to it early and he did. He knows that bedtime is the crib since he only goes in it at night and has never (thankfully) given me any problems with going to sleep when he goes in it.

There isn't a shouldn't. Some moms sleep better with baby close by, some moms sleep better with a bit of distance. Some babies refuse to sleep flat on their backs, some have no issues with it. Its hard to know what will work in advance...
