Do you find people to be "nicer' in different towns?

Lately more than ever I'm noticing different demographics if you will, have different attitudes. For example my neighborhood is blue collar, everyone for the most part is on a level playing field & everyone is genuinely nice. The shopping center i shop in has the nicest people in it, from the people working in the supermarket, to the guy in the hardware store. The parking lot is not a competion & Everyone is so polite. When I go out to riverhead(or a little further east to shop) people are very curtious too(except for the random bad driver). I think people are bit more laid back further east, not in such a hurry.
When I'm at work in Massapequa I find the people to be very friendly, but the drivers are more aggressive & sometimes rude. I can't believe how many people I still see talking on their cell phones 3+ years after the hands free law passed.
My stepdaughter lives in Lynbrook w/her mother most of the time & I hate driving out there. I swear I think I'm going to get killed in an accident everytime I drive through Freeport. People are scary.
And I think my least favorite place to drive is jericho tnpk in Nassau, I think that road takes the cake for the rudest, most self centered people on the planet. Even sometimes in the stores up there, those woman with the larger than life attitudes that talk on their bluetooths through the entire store. How friggin annoying is that?

yes!

i can't speak for LI, but in westchester and jersey I have noticed subtle differences. i find certain towns more "snooty" than others, and i find some towns "back alley wouldn't want to get stuck by myself at 2:00 am kinda scary".

my parents currently live in upstate NY, and there is a HUGE difference in politeness and common courtesy. i love to go shopping when i visit them because everyone is so nice!

Yes,

Besides being very congested (Eastern Nassau) the town I grew up in is VERY snotty. Many of the people are rude and very materialistic. While the school district is very good, the kids are really spoiled and the parents are involved in unconstructive ways (ie. Why didn't you give my kid a 90% instead of "What can my child do to EARN (now there's a concept) a 90?" I hate trying to get to the supermarket to do my Dad's shopping for him or bring him to the doctor's in that town.

Some would say that the neighborhood I moved to, some sections anyway, is even wealthier from where I came but it's different. Many of the people have money but they are not trying to impress everyone with their money. My neighbors are very friendly and I find the people in town to be very friendly as well. I haven't run into an "uppity snob" yet.

Sorry in advance to any of you good Nassau county drivers BUT I find the drivers in Nassau to be HORRIBLE.

ETA: One thing about the Roosevelt Field Mall- good shopping but filled with snobs. Rich does not equal snob but that mall is filled with rich snobs. Don't like it one bit. But then you go Bay Shore Mall and you have to worry about gangs. I stick with the Smithhaven mall.
