I know I don't quite belong here yet.....RP from TTC board
But, I go for bloodwork tomorrow, and My DR. is starting me on Progesterone, just to see if we can get some kind of cycle going ( I have not had a period in 4 months)
We will try Clomid to force me to ovulate if the progesterone does nothing.
Has anyone had any success with kicking your cycle back into gear with just progesterone?
Thanks Ladies

I took Metformin to help get my cycles back on track and it did the job. I was going about 2-3 months between periods.

That seems strange that they would give you progesterone to start your period? I was on pregesterone and I was told it coukld delay my period. If you temp this will make sense. During your luteal phase(time from O to AF) your progesterone rises to support a pregnancy shoudl it happen. Preogesterone is known as the "hot" hormone that is why your temps stay up. When you get AF your progesterone drops so I don't see how supplementary progesterone could bring on your period. I don't know much about it but maybe you should do a little research.

It is only 10 days of progesterone, to simulate my body ovulating. It will raise the hormone and temputure, and then when I stop, the hormone and temp drops, forcing a period, Dr. then hopes this tells the pituitary to start doing it's job, and maybe I can have a regular cycle. If I cannot get a period on my own, then she will try the CLOMID. Im just hoping my body figures out what to do, and I am praying that it is nothing too serious.....I have a lot of anxiety that it may be.

Really It's not Provera??? That's the drug that induces a period.
Hmmmm... I never heard of giving progesterone to start a cycle.

Brand name: Prometrium Pronounced: pro-ME-tree-um Generic name: Progesterone
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Why is this drug prescribed? Return to top
Prometrium is prescribed for postmenopausal women who are taking estrogen (hormone replacement therapy); it prevents a buildup of the lining of the uterus and abnormal bleeding. . Prometrium also may be prescribed to restore munstruation if your mentrual periods have stopped.
Okay I just looked this up, I feel better, LOL
