Anyone have a photo printer?
I want to get one but don't know anything about them. I've seen there are very small ones and then ones that are the size of regular printers
Any opinions?

I have the espon photo printer and an HP photo printer. I love love my espon. The pictures come out so great but the only downfall is that the largest picture you can get is a 4x6 we actually haven't hooked up our other printer since we moved 2.5 years ago. If I want larger prints I just order them from shutterfly.

I don't have one. If it were me I'd get a regular size printer which will do both photos & documents.
Just an FYI - Photos printed on commercially available printers & paper will always fade within a year or 2 (quicker if near a window).

I have a Epson Picturemate. It prints solely 4 x 6 pics out so I never have to go to CVS. Fantastic machine!! You would never know I didn't go to a photolab......I also have a HP Photosmart printer/fax/copier all in one that is good too.
PS The Picturemate puts a clear coating on the picture to prevent fading over time...
Epson PictureMate
The PictureMate delivers great print quality and is fun to operate, but it prints onto only one size of paper and can't run on batteries.
The $199 PictureMate's design suggests portability and recreation: It has a handle and looks like a small silver-and-black boombox. The PictureMate doesn't run on batteries, though you can buy an optional car adapter for $50. It prints only on 4-by-6-inch paper, but you can have it make two wallet-size prints on one sheet.
Nonetheless, we found the PictureMate a pleasure to use. It has a USB 1.1 port, which can support a camera, an external CD writer, or a Bluetooth module ($69), as well as slots for most common memory cards. Navigating on-board menus with the four-way toggle button was easy. The menus let you print a proof sheet, pick images by number (the LCD doesn't display images), and print multiple pictures on the same sheet. But the LCD isn't backlit and suffers from distracting reflections, which can complicate reading the menus. You can convert prints to black-and-white or sepia-tone, and you can apply various cropping templates. The Save Photo button lets you write images from your memory card to a disc loaded in an external CD burner.
Most dedicated snapshot printers use dye-sublimation technology, but the PictureMate is an inkjet, with a six-ink cartridge that includes Epson's new red and blue inks. The flat, wide cartridge slides into the back of the printer. Epson provides a 20-sheet pack of paper and an ink cartridge with the printer; 100-sheet replacement packs include ink and cost $29, or 29 cents per print.
The PictureMate took 2 minutes and 22 seconds to print a photo from a PC--noticeably longer than either of the other snapshot printers we have tested. But the output was worth waiting for: Colors in the photo looked bright and luminous, detail popped out in sharp focus, and highlights and shadows looked natural.
Upshot: The PictureMate is a good fit if you want affordable, top-quality snapshots without fiddling with your camera.

Interesting
I know you take a lot of great pictures so where do you print yours if you don't have a photo printer?

I have a regular size one that is also a picture printer. I barely use it. It takes up so much ink and the ink is very expensive. Its good for that odd photo here are there, but printing up 20-30 pictures really eats up the ink.

That's actually why I want one. I order my bulk ones from shutterfly but it's for those pics I want quickly or ones I forgot to order.

I know you take a lot of great pictures so where do you print yours if you don't have a photo printer?
I print mine at work if I want to use them for invitations, etc. HP Officejet 4110 or if I want them for a picture frame I get them from Kodakgallery (can be sent to CVS) or Yahoo (can be sent to Target). I don't have one photo hanging in my house. It's on ongoing argument with DH. He doesn't like having photos up.

It is an all in one printer.
It is a printer, scanner, copier and a fax.
I love it!!

I have the HP printer that prints 4 x 6 or 5 x 7.....I LOVE it!! I can do different layouts to get multiples (like 4 wallets on a page). Plus you can zoom, change to sepia, antique, or B & W on the printer without modifying the original pic
