Cingular - Vent - Kinda long
I got new Motorola V220 phones when we switched from AT&T to Cingular back in April(the switch was mandatory since DH needed a new phone and Cingular bought out AT&T) ok so since I HAD to switch that cost me $18 PER PHONE... mind you it was not something I had wanted to do in the first place. I just wanted a new phone with the same company I was with. ANYWHO... yesterday my phone died... no reason. No damage, no water just wouldnt turn on. I took it to a Cingular store and its the phone so I called Cingular and they said they would replace the phone since its under warantee, they would give me either a refurbished or new phone (no guarantee) but they would use my original purchase date as the new phones warantee date, (so I get someone elses broken phone with no extended warantee). PLUS they would take a week to get it to me for free unless I wanted to pay for 2 day shipping (with the holiday means Tuesday)... GRRRR I cant be without a phone on the road with 2 small children. Just not comfortable doing that. If your still reading thanks for reading but I just wanted to let you know I HATE CINGULAR!
ETA: I asked if I could just take it to the Cingular store and get a new phone and they idiot on the other end told me NO with no good reasoning behind it. GRRRRRRR.

OMG I understand!!! When At&t switched to cingular everything went down hill!!! We couldn't get rid of those phones fast enough!!!!!!!!
My sister still has cingular and when she calls me from her cell phone the call drops AT LEAST 3 times during the conversation!!

Does your phone has a SIM card? If so, you should be able to get a new phone at a Cingular store and get a new phone on the spot, but u might have to pay for it.

Yes, it does have the card but since I did pay $200 for this new phone Im not about to give Cingular another $200 for a new phone!!

Yea that part definitely sux but u can get a cheap phone, to hold you over through the wknd, until your phone comes in the mail. And if anything, sell that phone, or have that phone reserve for the future....hmmm???

Well out in the middle of no where (east end) where I live it is actually pretty good. Better than Nextel and Verizon.

Do you know anyone with an old phone they are not using... maybe you can use it until the new one arrives (if it is a sim card)?
