If this snow keeps up I'm totally going home...
My office never seems to care about the lives of its staff. And I'm one of those scaredy-cat in the snow drivers!

Re: If this snow keeps up I'm totally going home...
This is great...of all the days for it to snow. Tonight I have a doctor appointment at 6 so I have an hour to kill beforehand. DH has two appointments afterwards so I have to kill time in the city tonight while he is at his appointment. I do not want to be wandering around the city tonight so pregnant. I just hope I don't fall.

My mom's office is closing at 12...but my place isn't nice like that and they think you're overreacting and you get the attitude big time. Ugh! I'm supposed to have a meeting at 4, but my a*s will be home by 4!

Yeah, my DH works in the city and the trip home tonight will be bad...plus LIRR is all messed up as per usual. I don't miss working in NYC!

Well, if it makes you feel better it is raining in downtown NYC! It was snowing but it might be done now?

Re: If this snow keeps up I'm totally going home...
DH has to go to an overnight meeting in NYC later today. We both work for the same company. So we both took the train today to my office (we live and work in NJ) only I get to go home myself tonight
What stinks is that our driveway is so long, narrow and steep I'm going to have to take the train again tomorrow to work because DH isn't home to help clean the driveway with me. And by the time tomorrow rolls around it's going to be a sheet of ice

Maybe some kids will come around to shovel your driveway

Re: If this snow keeps up I'm totally going home...
I am north of LI and while there's only a coating of snow sticking, it's very slippery- my little car was all over the place.
I have a bad cold so I was probably going to stay home today anyway, but I also knew it would be a nightmare getting home later (55 miles from work to home)

They usually do, but nobody will be home. I wont' get home until after 6 tonight and I'll have to leave for the train tomorrow at 7:00am. We just moved to the neighborhood and don't know anyone

I saw some kids knocking on doors during the blizzard. They didn't knock on my door as I had my kickarse snowthrower in action.
But just for the info.... whats the "going rate" that these kids ask for to shovel your sidewalk and driveway?

I used to work for a newspaper, and bad weather was not an excuse. You would get written up the first time and then fired if you tried to not come in. They would rather put you up at a hotel than have you not come in to work.

---------------------------------------------------
The very first snow we had there were 3 of them and they wanted 50 bucks.
After the blizzard some "older" guys came buy as DH and I were getting ready to kick our snowblower into action and they wanted $100 bucks. IMO and DH's it was so worth it to us and it took them about a half hour to do what would hve taken us the entire day. We even offered to let them use the blower but they insisted on shoveling.
We also live in a rather upscale neighborhood so the kids know they can get a little more. But our driveway is so long and steep that we don't mind paying someone to do it.
