Sad news regarding Dr. Alan Beer...
My sister is a long-time patient of Dr. Beer's and was informed yesterday that he passed away on Monday. He did not show up for work on Monday and someone had gone to his house and found him :(
Sorry for the bad news.
I was in the process of consulting with him for my positive MTHFR results. Not sure what I'm going to do now.

Re: Sad news regarding Dr. Alan Beer...
I literally cried last night when I found out.
This is such a tragic loss ...what a special man. He is was one of doctors who was a true visionary, and pioneer ! Without him, so many babies would not be here !!! It's such a shame that he passed way before his time.
He was going to be my next step..., I know they are not accepting new patients, until they reinstate a new physician to take over. However, if you are already established as a patient I believe they will still work with you. Have you had all the testing done ? LAD,DQ Alpha, immunophenotype, NK assay etc ? I am praying that someone as dedicated and passionate and most of all intelligent as him....is able to work the research Dr. Beer has put forth !
Dr. Jonathon Scher is also outstanding...he isn't as aggressive as Dr. Beer, but just as brilliant, dedicated, and passionate. He is located in Manhattan. The testing he does, is through the same lab as Dr. Beer. Dr. Scher is who I had my testing done with.

Re: Sad news regarding Dr. Alan Beer...
I am an established patient, I finally completed the paperwork last week!! My sister also consulted with Dr. S and agrees that he is not as aggressive. I was just diagnosed with the MTHFR gene and am currently taking Folgard and baby aspirin as well as a prenatal. My sister has been trying for 12 years and has had many miscarriages. I am terrified that I will have similar problems, so I thought it would be a good idea to go to the same Dr. she deals with to make it easier. I had a hard time getting the Folgard from my regualar OB-GYN. I know that a shot has to be taken once pg but I forgot the name. I will be trying to conceive towards the end of the summer, once I have had my testing done. I am 32 and just want to play it safe and get tested just in case. I can't afford to waste time with trial and error at my age :(
